Awesome!

It's got solid worldbuilding, realistic grit, romantic surrealism, throbbing action - and most importantly, it's got a solid plot to tie it together.

A major bonus: It's not just the idea of trauma that a lot of authors use as a component to attatch readers to characters and get us emotionally invested.
It's relevant to the story. It serves a purpose, and it leaves a mark on the people and the environment of the story - the path ahead is touched by the lingering pains, and personalities are driven to act accordingly (as opposed to pushing it aside for the ridiculous notion that there is a quick fix in the shape of rough sex and a half-baked fantasy of love).

This is an example of taking trauma and reflecting it in a work of fiction realistically. It's a genuine 'attempt' (successful, in my opinion) to portray this and it leaves a feeling that the author went above and beyond the written word and understood the toil and toll of living with this for a reality.
We all carry trauma in some capacity. When authors take my trauma and use it for their work as a tool they usually take the rough and leave the cutting edges (and the scars) behind. It makes me feel soiled. It makes me feel disrespected.
This author work made me feel respected.

I only have two notes:
1. The tempo of being in a tense action-packed and moment feels disrupted by prolonged explanation/inner dialogue/observation. (As a reader, it was aggrevating to go from life or death to a sudden pause - though it served to get my heart pumping, for sure.)

-And nothing to do with the story itself:
2. In my opinion, the experience of listening to the story was a split venture. I'm not trying to be harsh and I'm sorry if this seems rude.

-The male narrator has a beautiful voice, but honestly, it didn't feel like he matched the energy of the story. He made no inflection, no intonation. He was saying words, not telling a story.
-English isn't my mothertongue so this may just be me - but it sounded as if some words weren't fully spoken (I think to avoid the harshness of 'S' and 'T' in particular) to the point that I didn't fully grasp what he meant or got too distracted by figuring it out to pay attention.
-He added distinct premature pauses, making a full stop at every clause instead of finishing at a sentence.

Overall, I was mentally preparing to compensate and stay at attention at his chapters and it took away from the experience.

Really enjoyed this book

Lots of action, twists and turns and the slow burn starts to combust. I preferred Aran’s story, although Sadie’s was very good. Sadie and her shifters are still around in these books, as are Jinx and the pervy ferret. Book 6 is not available yet, which has left me wanting!

So good. I need to detox away my addiction

Oh, the book hangover!!! I need the next one now or something that is just as good. I will need to reread a favourite to come down from this book. So much, so funny, so dark, but so goooood!!!!

It has things like:
Dark triggers...
forced situation intercourse. Not rape, they consented, but the situation was forced on them
Drug and alcohol abuse addiction
Violence
Types of BSMD
Depression, anxiety, and suicide thoughts
Bullying

Also, things like
MM MF and MFM... maybe MMM spice
Dark humour
Body count
Spicy hot smut
Fierce, sassy, dark, bad arse FMCs

I love the ending. I did not expect that. I also didn't see the John twist, or the Jinx twist or the wth twists!!!

I relate to Sadie and Aran in some ways, and I think that's why I fell into this book and lived the world so deeply. It's realistic as much as an omegaverse, and other realms with lots of species can be.

The author links thinks like the language they use that sounds so human and modern to bootleg human TV. Other POVs help to dull the frustration from mistakes and misunderstandings from miscommunication or no communication.
The characters are strongly built, and the situation they are in becomes believable as you get to know their traits. They fail, they succeed, they lie and love and they think the darkest things...and I love it!!!

I need to know what happens!!! I need to know!!

listless selfpitying FMC..

Aaron is the kind of FMC you just want to skip. selfpitying and Woe is me.
this was probably the longest 18h of my life.. lucky the narrator was good.. I have the last book but I dread to start it.. but I can no be worse than this was- if it is - I might just shoot my self in the foot.. it can not be as painful as this was sorry to the author
