Summary

We vowed to escape together. I broke that promise. Now the men I loved just might break me.

There were six of us. Caged, turned into monsters, and tormented with brutal tests of our horrific emerging abilities.

We had only each other to count on...until our escape attempt ended with one dead, the others recaptured, and me dragged away into a different nightmare.

Now I've finally fought my way back to rescue them. Except the men I set free are hardened, beastly versions of the devoted boys I remember.

They see me as a traitor and a murderer—but they refuse to let me go now that they have me back.

They have no idea that the greatest threat may be the new darkness that’s woken up inside me.

I don’t know how to control it. And if these men break me, I could destroy us all.

Shattered Vows is the first in a new urban fantasy series for those who love savagely possessive men and fierce heroines who'll fight for what's theirs.

Brilliant first in series

This is a fantastic start to a new series by Eva Chase.Brilliant first in a new series by Eva Chase, Riva has spent four years trying to get back to the only friends she has ever had. the boys she grew up with. When she gets back to them and helps them escape. They treat her like she betrayed them and procede to treat her badly.
This story has some tuly heart breaking moments, Riva is strong female lead character. ..
I love this story and can't wait for the next book. Brilliant The plot is brilliant and the trauma that Riva and her men have been throught is heart breaking. The characters are strong and flawed but the love Riva has for them is breathtaking, Brilliant I can't wait for the next book.
The narration is perfect. I love thus authors work

Enjoyed

Great start to this new series . It’s been a while since I’ve listened to urban fantasy and I quite enjoyed it as it’s a change from all the dark stuff I read and listen too.

Excellent start to a series

Really enjoyed this story so far. The end is left on such a cliffhanger and you will just be waiting for the second book. Great storyline different from other stories, only thing that I could do without is her friends with benefits with all the lads, but that is a personal choice and does not take too much away from the otherwise great storyline

A wild ride from start to finish

The story started at a run with a group of characters that I thought I would not gel with but the skill in story telling is just superb.

I listened into the early hours of the morning, I was so wrapped up in to wanting to know more.

The ending is perfect with its cliff hanger.

The narration works very well.

Shadowbloods

Having devoured the previous books Eva has written about the Shadow Kind I was intrigued to read this new series about Riva and her best friends who are Shadow Bloods. This first book is a real emotional rollercoaster telling how Riva and her guys were brought up together but then separated for years after a failed escape attempt which resulted in the death of one of the guys. Riva is forced to exist alone, the only time she leaves her prison cell is to fight in vicious cage fights. The thought of escape and getting back to her guys is all that keeps her going and she dreams of a time when everything between her guys and the guys can go back to how it was before their escape attempt.

The Shadowblood were created by experimentation using human and Shadow Kind DNA Riva and the guys just want to be normal and live free, they hate their differences and would love to have them taken away but is that going to be possible?

The story had me gripped from beginning to end and took me on a rollercoaster ride where every emotion was evoked by what they must face. Who can be trusted? Will they ever be free? The book ended on a cliffhanger meaning we have to wait for the next book to find any answers.

The narration is brilliantly performed by Amber Lee Connors and Adam Gold, they brought the story to life and made every emotion felt.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Wow

Once again Eva Chase has absolutely wowed me with a first in series book. This one starts with a lot of action and drama (although she has revealed in her facebook group that she actually toned it down a bit in the final version). Riva isn't the best of her female leads, I find her insecure without reason and that plays into her relationships with her guys.

There is so much DRAMA - I mean this in a good way, it's really fast paced.

I will say that for my liking, given the way the guys have behaved, they haven't grovelled nearly enough. This book does end on a cliffhanger

Not gonna lie

To be honest it's not a 5 star story but... I'm feeling generous. And that is only because of the narration. It's not easy to find the perfect balance between the book's vibe and the voices you hear, but this was it. They were absolutely amazing. Only duet narration could have made this better.

Bravo 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿

When I finished this book, I felt like I'd just finished watching an awarding show that deserved a standing ovation!!! Even wiped away a tear 😳

This story starter strong, a little dark, intense and ended with even stronger, darker, and so intense I forgot to breathe!
I don't know how Eva Chase does it, but she built a world and characters so fast that I knew I was hooked after a few chapters.

The plot is full of survival, action, need, and betrayal. Given that the characters were brought up in a prison type home, torture hospital. I am not surprised with how mentally dark it is. I hate how she's bullied by the ones she loves. But that does not mean it deserves less praise. It just makes it realistic. After all, these are not people who grew up in a social environment that developed their emotions enough to not handle betrayal in a logical way...then again who does handle betrayal in a logical way. Betrayal is a stab in the heart that bleeds with no access to a med kit. These guys grew up as a small isolated, daily abused pack, hence the darkness. Not only that, but they have no idea what they are. They fear themselves, and their only anchor is each other.
So when one is gone and the other disappears, they believe their touture guardians lie.
That is their mistake, they should have known she would never betray them, and there is the backlash betrayal.

They hurt and treat her so badly, even though she is clearly trying to take it, and she tells herself soon it will change. They will realise she has only tried to love them, even with the distrust and posion they throw at her. But, they go too far. They push her and twist her, and she breaks.
I cried when she broke, and boy did she break!
I was so pissed off on her behalf and wanted them to grovel and pay. But noy much of that in this book...who knows, there is more to the story in two more books. Maybe they atone enough to make up for what they did....Wait, that sounds like the ending left me open and frustrated. Nope, the author gave me a taste of satisfaction, enough delicious comeuppance to leave me satisfied till the next book.

Oh, and there is a hot steamy moment. But the author manages to also make it tender as well.

So wow and onto the next book!!

An Urban Fantasy Why Choose Romance

Shattered Vow by Eva Chase is an urban fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amber Lee Connors and Adam Gold. This is the first book in the Shadowblood Souls series.

I love Eva's books! I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am loving the chemistry between Riva, Jacob, Zian, Andreas, and Dominic. Their relationship is extremely messy, and I can't wait to see how it will progress over the course of the series. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series Monstrous Power.

Amber and Adam did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for an urban fantasy romances, why choose romances, or romantic suspense.
