Summary
'One of the best British crime writers' – Lee Child
Roy Grace is about to find out just how dangerous a dead man can be . . .
When James Taylor arrives late for a funeral, he has to stand at the back of the small church. But, as the service progresses, Taylor notices a man six rows in front of him. At first he thinks he must be mistaken, but the more he looks at the man, the more convinced Taylor becomes that this is his old schoolfriend Rufus Rorke.
Except it couldn’t be him, could it? Because two years ago Taylor attended Rufus Rorke’s funeral. He even delivered Rufus’s eulogy.
On the other side of Brighton, at Police HQ, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace has been alerted to a number of suspicious deaths that he can’t get out of his mind. But how are they linked? And could they possibly be connected to Rufus Rorke?
One Of Us Is Dead is the latest race-against-time instalment of the award-winning Grace series by Peter James, now a major ITV show starring John Simm.

Grace is back!
So much better than the previous book. Good story line and not much on Roy’s personal life

Brilliant
Binged it in two days. Still the same high standard of writing and narration as the very first.

One of the best Grace novels
I really enjoyed this book and will be listening to it again in due course. Some of his others (though not many) only deserved one listen in my opinion. I’m not sure if it was my download but very occasionally words were clipped (including the very first word ‘Chapter!). Also as strong as the individual voices were, some including Glen Branson didn’t sound anything like they did in previous books. A relatively minor complaint but there it is. Overall I highly recommend this book to any Roy Grace fan.

The best adrenaline rush of the year.
Thank you, Peter James. This is why I love reading. Now and then, you have the pleasure of witnessing perfection.
One of Us Is Dead ticked every box.
With different storylines running concurrently, you first wonder how they will all tie together, but James's brilliant writing leaves you speechless as each character is brought to life (or death)!
I haven't read a book this good in ages. And boy, oh boy, what a joy.
I love how Grace's character is still growing, and the long-awaited punch-up with Cassian Pewe was a sheer delight.
The evilness of Rufus Rorke is so cleverly written.
Proving once again that Peter James is the Master of Crime Fiction.
Would I recommend this book?

another good story
Another book that's difficult to put down! This is a slightly different Grace book in that Grace and the Brighton police seem to take second place - less about Grace's family life and more about the other characters.

The thrill of chasing the culprit
As usual Peter James delivered the outmost thrilling crime story, the characters are just their usual part with sense of humour

Great storytelling
Absolutely love this series and the narration is excellent as always but I'm irked by a couple of inaccuracies mainly when was Easyjet ever a longhaul airline. Surprised that got by the editor and the yacht crew dialogue and descriptions are off. But Roy Grace and his team = fabulous!
