Summary

Bestselling author and foster carer Casey Watson shares the shocking true story of Tyler, an abused eleven-year-old who, after stabbing his step-mother, had nowhere else to go.

Knowing a little of Tyler’s past – his biological mother, a heroin addict, died of an overdose when he was three – Casey feels bound to do her best for him. It isn’t easy; Tyler continuously lashes out, even trying to attack Casey herself. Investigation into his earlier childhood reveals why: forced to watch his mother die he was found emaciated and traumatised two days later, then delivered to a father who didn’t want him and a step-mother who beat him.

With the horrific events of his past now vividly affecting the course of his present, Casey and her husband Mike are determined to veer him away from the violence and drugs they fear he will come to depend on.

Heartbreaking and profoundly moving, Nowhere to Go tells the story of a child forsaken by his family but fought for by his foster carers.

Ridiculous narration

Would you try another book written by Casey Watson or narrated by Kate Lock?

Possibly another Casey Watson title, but not if narrated by Kate Lock.

Would you recommend Nowhere to Go to your friends? Why or why not?

No - narration too poor.

What didn’t you like about Kate Lock’s performance?

Bizarre, erratic and over-the-top accents - at times difficult to understand words.

Did Nowhere to Go inspire you to do anything?

No.

Any additional comments?

Very disappointing - mediocre story made unbearable by narrator.

Not Casey and Mike at all........

I have read all of Casey Watsons books and love them ...in book form and on kindle she is am amazing writer and her stories grab you from the very beginning. This is the first one I have had as an audible book and I have to say how dissapointed I was at the way this was put over.
The accents that were used for Casey and Mike were really bad and made her seem like she had a speech impediment. And as for Tyler I still don't know where in the world he came from as his accent was changing all the time and I don't believe any child would talk like him.
I know when you read a book you develop the characters in your mind but I would never... ever..have chosen to interpret Casey and Mike as tho they were such underdogs as they do not come across in any of the books that way. They are an strong astute couple who have made some amazing changes to a lot of children and I am afraid that what came across in the book was not the real Casey and Mike.

Loved this book

Well done Casey another brilliant read. Tyler sounds like such a sweetheart and I keep thinking about him and how he has become a happy member of your family and it’s clear you all adore each other. Love your books.

Why

A good story spoilt by the worse narrator I have ever heard. Her voice is beyond horrid.

Did not enjoy the audio narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Nowhere to Go to be better than the print version?

No

What didn’t you like about Kate Lock’s performance?

It was all too much, too much eastend accents, and found male voices and young boy's hard to listen too.

Any additional comments?

Liked the story and book, but struggled with the audio narration, sorry to say.

Heart warming story!

I’d read reviews about the narration by Kate Lock being annoying so had avoided these books but decided to have a listen as I’d run out of books to listen to - I have been delighted that I did!

Great story AND narration, I will be listening to the whole series now :)

Awful narrator

Great story and Casey Watson’s story telling is fab, however the narrator was terrible, the voices of “Tyler” and a few others are nothing more than irritating.
