About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A village of secrets
It's December 1952, and a dead stranger has been found lodged up the chimney of Holly House in the remote town of Elderby. Is he a simple thief, or a would-be killer? Either way, he wasn't on anyone's Christmas wish list.

A mystery that can't be solved
Inspector Frank Grasby is ordered to investigate. The victim of some unfortunate misunderstandings, he hopes this case will help clear his name. But as is often the way for Grasby, things most certainly don't go according to plan.

A Christmas to remember
Soon blizzards hit the North York Moors, cutting off the village from help, and the local doctor's husband is found murdered. Grasby begins to realise that everyone in Elderby is hiding something - and if he can't uncover the truth soon, the whole country will pay a dreadful price...

Absolutely fantastic!

As an avid reader of all of Denzil Meyricks’ works to date. More especially a huge fan of the DCI Daily and rue stories. I was initially reluctant to drift away from those fantastic characters, and as such hesitated to begin this book. That was until a friend of mine from the states, told me it was one of the best books she had ever read. so thanks to Jennifer Aberdeen, for inspiring me to get out of my comfort zone and read something slightly different. Which I thoroughly enjoyed from stock to finish. If fantastically written story and thoroughly gripping from start to finish. Brilliant characters, I only hope this is the beginning of Another series, and not a standalone. I would happily read many more stories surrounding this character. Amazingly narrated by the reader. I haven’t read any books narrated by this reader previously, although I shall definitely be seeking out some more of his works also. What a fantastic read.

Fantastic Story - Unexpected Twists and Turns

Great narration, fantastic story, strong characters, hope there is a sequel.

Unexpected twists and turns throughout but set in a coherent plot

Great Book

Really enjoyed this from one of my favourite writers, He normally writes a Scottish series so wasn't sure what to expect from this or the narrator but both where excellent. For me no matter how good a book is the narrator can still make it bad but this guy was brilliant. I'll look out for more books read by Tom Turner. Also the book was a real twist, never who who the good guys or the bad guys where. Can't wait for the next one.
