Summary

Told in a series of diary entries in which Mel muses on everything from booty calls and all-butter croissants to grief and family bonds, Melodramatic is a candid look at the mess of wires behind those big flashing lights of fame—wonderfully witty, refreshingly honest, and ultimately hilarious.

The glitz and glam of showbiz isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. As a 26-year-old actor living in London, Mel would know. After years of wasting time at fruitless auditions, dealing with constant rejection and batting off back-handed compliments, Mel’s starting to reach the end of her tether with it all. That’s until she lands a semi-substantial role in a hit movie alongside superstar heartthrob Jack Hart.

Jack is super confident, super handsome, and, at face value, super arrogant—everything Mel can't stand. But when Mel gets the opportunity to break industry protocol and get to know the person behind the pretty face, she soon realizes that even the most famous and successful actors have their problems.

I laughed out loud

Great listen, the humour and lines you never expect that you will laugh out loud. Mel is so relatable, her over thinking drives you crazy but that all part of it. 100% recommend

A book you can’t put down

I decided to have Megan read this story for me whilst turning pages of the book, she reads it so well. Read it in two days a roller coaster if emotions funny and if you can relate shed a tear, for her first novel she smashed it, looking forward to the sequel hopefully 😊

Gorgeous relatable heart wrenching

Listened to the whole thing in two days, if I had the time to read I couldn’t have put it down. Relatable story, frustrating at times but that just feels like you’re trying to help a friend see what’s really going on when they’re too stubborn to see it. Heart breaking undercurrent that becomes prominent and explained fully in the end. An absolutely gorgeous read.
