Get people who know football to perform this!
The readers (not just this book, your line of football books) don’t seem like they know football at all. There is so much joy lost in the way they pronounce stuff. It ruins the experience.

Maradona
Overall good book, bit of a slow burner but I particularly enjoyed Naples years onwards as I have a recollection of those years. Thought the reader was excellent, very poignant ending reflecting both the genius and the sadness of the man.

Not quite Jimmy Burns level
To us die hard Maradona fans there is nothing new in this book save, maybe, an insight to his time in Sevilla. Balague uses his contacts in the Spanish game to garner quotes from Carlos Unzue amongst others. A whole book about the year in Sevilla must surely be on the agenda. One thing I find bizarre is the decision by the narrator to mock accents throughout his narration when quoting Argentinians, Spaniards and Hispanics in general. We Spanish don’t really get upset at this type of thing, I actually find it amusing, however can you imagine the uproar should David John narrate a biography of Usain Bolt or Sachin Tendulkar with the same comedic abandon towards his accents. He even drops a slight feminine tilt to quote Claudia Villafañe!! None of this takes away from the contents however, and it is yet another book that proves the worth of the real GOAT. ¡Aúpa!

Pretty straightforward bio - with insane accents!
For some unfathomable reason, the narrator goes into a comic Argentinian accent when quoting Maradona and other Argentinians. Even worse he goes in for a Leicestershire accent for Gary Lineker, and various other accents throughout the book (Italian, Yorkshire, etc). It's difficult to get past this, but on the whole this is a fairly standard biography of Maradona, no great insights or revelations
