About this listen
Magelord Alexander Mason has ruled Northridge for eighty years, his unique offworld magic crushing all enemies and bringing prosperity to his people. Malkin, firstborn son and heir apparent, has every intention of succeeding his father. For Devon, distant greatson of the old Magelord, such politics are far removed—until he unexpectedly claims the offworld power as his own.
But not all are pleased by Devon's accomplishment.
As hostile adversaries and shifting loyalties align against House Mason, Devon must rely on both his formidable magic and the love of two women to uncover the plot against him and stay alive.

Immature characterisation
Interesting world building but the characters just aren’t developed. The main insight into the protagonist’s character is what he is thinking about his female conquests. I tried but gave up. Needed a decent editor or beta readers.

fantasy with a difference
this is a very fresh take ,there's definitely a shift in modern fantasy these days with compelling magic systems and character/world building, this is a series I will look forward to completing ....the narrator soon makes you forget you're just listening to a book,he tells a story, and put life into the characters ...
