Summary

Giant monsters are attacking, and no city is safe!

When Drakon, king of the Kaiju, attacked his home, Eric’s life changed forever. With buildings crumbling around him and giant monsters battling for dominance, he thought he was a dead man. Saved by the sacrifice of another, Eric inherits a rare and powerful gift - the ability to transform into a Kaiju.

Bonded with an AI control system and pressed into working for the United Nations, Eric stands as one of humanity’s last defenders against the Kaiju threat. First, he’ll need to grow in both power and stature if he wants to protect the Earth, defeating Kaiju and absorbing their skills and abilities. Power is not without cost, and the Kaiju he vanquishes linger as ghosts in his mind, each eager to take control of Eric’s body.

Not everyone has mankind’s best interests at heart, and Eric will need to uncover secrets behind his strange new life if he’s to survive. He’ll need every level and fantastical power he can get if he’s going to take on Drakon and cling onto his humanity.

“Come on ya flappy git, let’s see what you’ve got!”

Thoroughly enjoyable romp. Really easy to listen to and full on Kaiju battles with a great twist on the typical levelling up mechanics.
Really well narrated too with good character voices. Really well suited to this novel!
I really hope there’s more to come!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

surprisingly fun and engaging.

if you're after a LitRPG story that isn't too stat heavy, but has enough game.like elements that don't distract from the story then this is for you!
if big monsters doing battle with rpg undertones is your bang then this is for you.
if character development is important to you this has a good steady scale to it.

I am looking forward to more of this series! and the narrative skills if Graham Mack bring Tracy Gregory's work to life in a way that delights my geeky british mind. a fun story for those who love giant monster films!

A very good Kajiu/Litrpg combo.

This is a really good and original take on the Kajiu genre. The book opens up straight into the action, some people don't like that, but I do. Lots of scope for the story to continue and a great narration as always by Graham Mack.
