About this listen
Laura Kinsale's best romantic comedy, narrated in Nick Boulton's sexy, wicked voice....
Trevelyan d'Augustin and Lady Callista Talliafaire were secret sweethearts, until the day her father dismissed him with a whip across the face. Ten years and three jiltings later, shy Callie is resigned to a quiet village life as the late earl's spinster daughter. But now Trev has returned from his estates in France, upending everything, dragging her into adventures, stealing Hubert the prize-winning bull, and flinging Callie's heart into mayhem again.
Laura and Nick fans who enjoy a practical, witty heroine will love shy Lady Callista with her cattle and daydreams, and believe dashing Trev will be a lucky man if he can win her back...or perhaps just kidnap her instead! ©2010 Laura Kinsale (P)2014 Hedgehog IncCritic reviews

The Dashing Frenchman & his love
Would you consider the audio edition of Lessons in French to be better than the print version?
Having never read it in print, I can't comment. However the narrator Nicholas Boulton was outstanding and made the book very enjoyable.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lessons in French?
When Callie cunningly ensnared the true forger & then revealed in her modest way what she had done to Trev. Top girl !
Which character – as performed by Nicholas Boulton – was your favourite?
Callie. She was a great heroine & I loved her passion for her cattle.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Life & times of Hubert The Bull
Any additional comments?
I thought the story was great, lots of twists & turns along the way. I thought Trev was a wonderful character & really loved the humour in the book. I am a great Georgette Heyer fan, and had never come across Laura Kinsale, but in this book I think she is better than GH. I thought Nicholas Boulton's interpretation was outstanding. A very well written & thoroughly enjoyable book

Lighthearted romp
A lighthearted romp with a love of bulls and Bath buns. What more could you want. Laura Kinsale is such a skilled romance writer that one can overlook the plot holes without any qualms. Loved the characters of Monceaux and his maman. Wonderful narration from Nicholas Bolton. A real comfort listen.

Great hero and wonderful narration
Loved it! I’m a Heyer fan and was growing tired of reading endless identikit stories with too much sex and too little plot. This audio is great fun! The author has dedicated time to developing a story and I was second guessing how it would end up until the final minutes. Both hero and heroine were great, but the hero was particularly charismatic. Recommended for any Heyer fans. If you enjoy this then try Stella Riley who is a great author and blends historical fact with compelling romances.

Superb!
I do so love this writer's style. For those who have read Flowers From the Storm, this is light hearted and so very appealing.
It is about Callie, a wallflower and heiress, with a love for Hubert, a bull calf, who has a penchant for buns with white raisins.
Enter Trevelyan, Duc of Monceaux, the only man with whom Callie is comfortable. He is delicious and up to all sorts of tricks and skullduggery.
The story is quite enchanting, funny and the epilogue is the best I have found to date and what it is meant to be, i.e. ties up all the loose ends.
So, if you want to listen to a beautifully written book, with love, adventure and humor, look no further.
The narration is superb.

Charming romp
Apart from referring to charladies instead of chambermaids, the author spins a good story. Nicholas Boulton is a wonderful narrator.
