Summary

Law of Attraction: A Gateway Drug to Spiritual Heroin by Jon Clash is a compelling book that shines a light on the dark side of the self-help industry. Clash draws from his personal experiences and research to expose the deceptive tactics used by gurus to exploit vulnerable individuals seeking success and happiness. He reveals how the Law of Attraction can lead to a dangerous addiction, where individuals become fixated on chasing feelings and spiritual highs, ultimately leading to a deep-seated dependency on the very gurus who sold it to them.
The book is a powerful wake-up call for those who have been taken in by the deceptive practices of the Law of Attraction. Clash challenges listeners to question everything they have been taught and to find a genuine path towards true success, peace, and spirituality rather than relying on empty promises. With its honest and no-holds-barred approach, Law of Attraction: A Gateway Drug to Spiritual Heroin is a must-listen for anyone seeking to break free from the grip of self-help gurus and find their way toward a more fulfilling life.

Extremely relatable

As someone who was on the "New Age hamsterwheel" for years and chasing the carrot, running myself into the ground financially, physically and spiritually while convincing myself that I was healing, I can relate so much to everything the author is describing in this book.

It always starts out small, usually with Yoga or joining an MLM, because they will inevitably have you watch The Secret and read tons of personal development books all built on new thought, like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

For me, it ended up with becoming a regular consumer of psychedelics, specifically Ayahuasca and mushrooms. It really "opened up" my spiritual life, and I felt like I was really healing past trauma, becoming spiritually enlightened, and I felt blissful and peaceful after the sessions. Until I didn't. I became more and more drained of energy after a while and didn't understand why. I kept saying my affirmations, though, and was told to "brainwash" myself even if I didn't believe in them.

Looking back, it's now evident to me how addicting it is to believe in LoA, and it really takes you down a rabbit hole. Long story short, at the bottom of that rabbit hole is Christ. Not Christ consciousness, just Christ himself, waiting with open arms.

Thank you for this book! It was a great listen and I will recommend it to my New Age friends and family. I have Catholic family members who unfortunately believe more in LoA than the Bible. I pray that God uses me to lead them back to the Lord.
