Summary
Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.
After walking through the portal in the Tower of Swallows while narrowly escaping death, Ciri finds herself in a completely different world...an Elven world. She is trapped with no way out. Time does not seem to exist and there are no obvious borders or portals to cross back into her home world.
But this is Ciri, the child of prophecy, and she will not be defeated. She knows she must escape to finally rejoin the Witcher, Geralt and his companions - and also to try to conquer her worst nightmare. Leo Bonhart, the man who chased, wounded and tortured Ciri, is still on her trail. And the world is still at war.

Peter Kenny and David French are amazing!!
I am loving this series and glad I opted to listen to it as opposed to reading. I laugh out loud at all the accents... grumpy Geralt, pious elves and coarse dwarves. I think I find the dwarves most humourous of all. Peter Kenny just brings it all to life. I guess I'm talking more about the narration here, but that's what added an extra bonus for me. On the story alone, I loved it as much as the rest of the books. It's just another link in the chain of the full story. Very entertaining.
Praise also needs to be given to David French. I cannot imagine how you go about translating older language styles. I so enjoyed hearing the medieval tone in many of the conversations. It seemed so appropriate, and usually added humour in many situations. I often reversed the audio and listened to them again, eg Geralt and Dandelion's argument, before they parted ways. Thankyou, David.

Peter Kenny is phenomenal.
You are totally immersed in the story from start to finish and know which characters he is playing. Whether it's the Welsh dwarves, Scottish Sintrans or Spanish Elves/Nilfgaardians. I prefer this to the TV production.

An astounding series read by the Master himself.
This review is for the Witcher Chronicals as a whole.
I eas drawn to this series despite muself as it starts with a couple of short story compilations wjich I usually avoid. To my surprise I was quickly drawn into the world as the authors mix of dark brutality, philosophy and humour so typical of the little Eastern European SF/F that I've read began to reveal themselves. Pleasingly Sapkowski seems to pay as much attention to the detail of the minor characters as the leads and somehow manages to avoid many of the western SF/F tropes that have lead me to become bored with the genre over the (many) years. If anything you might find the pace of the novels a little meandering at times as the authors copious use of flashback and third person narration can leave one feeling that they are still listening to a collection of short stories. However it does not take long to get used to and remains true to the theme of the earlier works.
a final word on the narration. Peter Kenny is by far the most talented and versatile reader I have ever listened to! I fell in love with his voice on his fantadtic work on Iain (M) Banks' novels and highly recommend these if you haven't heard them yet. This series has so many characters and dialects that in the hands of a lesser voice actor it could have become confusing but Kenny triumphs.
Overall then this series is a breath of fresh air for those worn down by the similarities in story and writing style so common in modern SF/F. Give it a go.

Peter Kenny you are the mvp of this book
the story was quite long and drawn out. Andrew changed his style a little with every book . This book did not grab me like the others have. Glad to have finished the series and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It does feel like Andrej was grasping a little and was getting desperate to end the witcher series, but still was an exciting worthwhile adventure

Captivating
I'm making my way through the entire series and Sapkowski doesn't disappoint in the slightest. The twists and turns within the story more than throw you, but he does make it up to you in the end. This book in particular is hard to stop listening to as you just want more and more. Probably my favourite series I've ever read/listened to. Utterly magnificent.

Boring beginning captivating ending
Unfortunately only the second half of the book is interesting, but Peter Kenny is still amazing. Altogether a mixed final chapter, but still worth reading/listening

Disappointing after great start to series.
I enjoyed this as it's the Witcher but at times I couldn't help wishing it would finish. despite that I enjoyed how the story was wrapped up and finished.

Perfect Conclusion
The most emotional of them all, I loved how this was read, how so much was interwoven. The circular nature of this story kept me hooked, and as always, the narration is first rate.
