really satisfying
My favourite fantasy series by a mile, Nick & Kel are a great combination so I wait the extra months for the audible books.
Off all the books in the series this one feels the most enjoyable.

Baby Dragon Delight: A Solid Step Forward in King’s Dark Tidings
This solid sequel sees all the main characters fully in their stride, working seamlessly together without the annoying conflicts or misunderstandings from earlier books. The new dragon companion brings a refreshing dynamic to Rezkin’s journey, while Frisha and the elf lady are far less grating this time around.
The tone strikes a balance—lighter than the intense fifth book but still lacking the humor of the series’ debut. However, there’s very little focus on the antagonists’ plans, and Rezkin’s conveniently acquired skills in illusion and portals feel too easy. It’s a bit disappointing to see less of characters like Chi and Farsen, who brought interesting tension in the previous installment, and the accents early on are inconsistent.
While it progresses the characters well, the book doesn’t advance the war effort much, leaving the sense that the resolution could take several more books. Additionally, Rezkin’s frequent appearances as an old man mean we miss the amusing moments tied to his striking looks and their effect on others.
Despite these critiques, this installment successfully develops the cast and keeps the story moving forward. Fans will enjoy the journey but might wish for more momentum in the overarching plot.

Amazing as always
the only thing I dislike about this book is that it ended, this is my favorite series and I finished it within 2 days. can't wait for the next one

Filler book
Although I enjoyed the book it felt more like a filler episode for the next instalment rather than a full title in of itself.

First draft?
I love KDT. It’s a fabulous engaging story, but something has slipped in KDT6. It feels like it’s lost the truth and stories of the primary characters. The enthralling arc of the story is still there, but so much else has either been lost or missed out.
More aggravating were the apparent misalignments with the earlier books.
The name of Gorogana was changed…? And Reskin had to discover his healing powers (again????)
It all leaves me asking whether this was a first draft, rushed out.
Also….. Nick Poedhel is brilliant. But for the first time in this book his voice characters seemed to lose a little consistency. Wesson sounded less and less like he used to. And I felt the same could be said of Malsius.
All that said…..
Can’t wait for KDT7.
