About this listen
Homicide Detective Stanford Carter uses Zen meditation to deal with the gruesome crimes of humanity. But his composure is severely tested when an unfaithful husband and stripper are not only murdered but showcased for their immoral lives. To test his mettle further, department policy is jeopardizing his romance with his CSI colleague Jill Seacrest. Marrying colleagues is prohibited, and Carter must either end his romance or have Jill put in for transfer.
The private detective hired by the family of the victims becomes the only suspect. Carter theorizes someone with knowledge in law enforcement is responsible for leaving clean but disturbing crime scenes. Further investigation leads him to believe a pair of killers might be working as serials. As Jill goes undercover to investigate the PI's social life, Carter fears he might not only fail to stop the vigilante killings but lose the love of his life.

Quite the ending
Quite the ending that makes you wonder. Good suspense although it was easy to listen to. Interesting how the author stitches it all together.

Kindred Killers
This was a really good book.I enjoyed it. We have good guys, bad guys, some I really couldn;t tell who they were for. Stanford Carter wants to marry his love,Jill, who is a colleague and it is against regulations. In the end, regulations won't matter. Thomas Pedrosa was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Satisfying and Well Paced
I’ve listened to a few works written by Gary and this was up to the typical standard I’ve grown used to. The story can feel a little slow at times but looking back from the end, it all contributes to something later on in the book. Gary does a great job of building the relationships as the story unfolds and there’s plenty in terms of moral messages for society along the way.
The narration was enjoyable too, first time listening to Thomas and I thought he did a good job with this one!
My only real dislike was the sex talk. I think sometimes it’s hard to put that across in a way that satisfies everyone in a book, and for me, it was a little too blunt, too direct and too laddish. Sometimes the terminology took me out of the scene. However, in saying that it seems to fit the characters so this is more than likely my own personal preference.
Enjoyable book and I loved the unwinding journey!

Good story line and characters
I enjoyed the story as the plot was good and the characters are believable, However the narration was not for me, I found it a little rhymical and occasionally monotone. Have a listen, if you like the narration, the book will be great for you.

Decent audiobook, worth the listen.
The story was intiguing, with many turns and twists. I was happy that I could not predict the conclusion of the story.
The narration was clear, well paced, and seemed very appropriate for the genre.
While I enjoyed the story, it did have a points that I personally feel could have been improved the story.
The many of the characters seemed defined by other characters perceptions of them, as opposed to their actions. What we are told from first impressions invariably seemed to turn our right, but left the question of how the characters determined the personalities of the other cast so easily and also made some characters actions seem strange. A greater adoption of the 'show' don't 'tell' approach could have improved this.
I personally found the use of mystical abilities of an, otherwise unintroduced, character to be a jarring and unnecessary addition to the story, and bordered on a 'deus ex mechina'. As others may find such mystical abilities endearing to the story, I did not downrate the review based on this.
While I enjoyed the ending, I was left with the feeling that it was perhaps too unpredictable. Upon the story concluding, I did not get the classic feeling of puzzle pieces sliding into place; however, I concede I may simply have missed the clues.

Loved this book!
I so enjoyed this book, it was a very enjoyable listen and kept me entertained and glued to the end, with a gripping showdown for Standford where all the questions were answered. Well narrated too.

Murder Mystery
I enjoyed listening to Thomas Pedrosa , he was perfect for this book.
We are taken on a tense and suspenseful hunt for who is responsible for some brutal murders. We have twists and turns and some very intense times. They is also a romance going on with Carter and a colleague and a PI , adding to exciting story.

entertaining series
I am working my way through this series and quite enjoying it. The lead characters are different (very zen) and it works very well. There was the focus on whether or not they were going to be able to get married or if Jill had to leave.
The crime itself was entertaining and got me thinking and I liked it.
I liked the narration style once I got used to it.
