Summary

This audiobook includes a moving introduction read by Kammy himself, as well as an exclusive Q&A between him and narrator Tony Marshall.

With his trademark banter and unflinching honesty, Kammy sees Chris 'Kammy' Kamara tell the unbelievable stories of his life, revealing how he went from hard-tackling footballer to broadcasting national treasure.

Presenter, commentator, (sometimes masked) singer, footballer, manager and campaigner, Kammy's action-packed career has made him a bona fide British hero. But it hasn't always been plain sailing.

Kammy had a tough upbringing, faced racism on the terraces during his playing career and has, in recent years, dealt with a rare brain condition – apraxia – that has affected his speech and seen him say goodbye to Sky Sports. Despite this, Kammy’s star has only risen as he’s met every challenge with courage, determination and his infectious smile.

With entertaining stories of his playing career from Pompey to Leeds and beyond; his management at Bradford City and Stoke; his crazy travels around the world; of Soccer Saturday banter; presenting Ninja Warrior; and the incredible friendships he's made along the way, Kammy is an unforgettable ride from one of Britain's best-loved broadcasters.

Critic reviews

I thought I knew Kammy well. I obviously don’t because I didn’t think he could read or write (Bradley Walsh)
They broke the mould when they made Kammy. He's one of the great characters in the game (Sam Allardyce)
I have always expected the unexpected with Kammy, but I never expected this! A touching, well-written and of course funny insight into Boro’s best! (Jeff Stelling)

Great story poor narrator

A great book and a great story from the icon Kammy. So badly let down by the awful narration, mispronunciation and accent. Surely they could have found a Boro lad who knows football that could have narrated this book.
This book deserves such better justice than this. Kammy is a national treasure with a great story to tell. Let's hope that in time he can narrate it himself.

Top bloke !

Having followed Kammys career it was interesting to see just a normal bloke achieve so much from being nice and genuine, very interesting read.

Brilliant, shame about the narrator.

Absolutely brilliant life story, hilarious, fascinating and at times heartbraking. 5 stars for the life story or Kammy who comes across as great person. Only thing that let's it down a bit is the narrator. If you're going to narrate the life story of a footballer / pundit at least research the football names you don't know, like pronouncing Pompey as Pompei, and many others. Don't let this put you off though as it's still a great listen due to Kammy's remarkable life.

Kammy

Absolutely fascinating. I didn’t know Kammy’s history with the different clubs. Not only did I enjoy that but listening to his illness and progress. Unbelievable!!!
