Summary
The evidence in this book may not ultimately give you the “smoking gun” you are looking for on your journey, but I guarantee it will give you a box of bullets when you find it.
In 1996, John Greenewald, Jr. began researching the secret inner workings of the US Government at the age of 15. He targeted such agencies as the CIA, FBI, Pentagon, Air Force, Army, Navy, NSA, DIA, and countless others.
Greenewald utilized the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to gain access to more than two million pages of documents. This archive includes information relating to UFOs, the JFK assassination, chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons, and top secret aircraft. He took the millions of pages, and over the course of more than two decades, has built an archive known around the world as The Black Vault.
Inside the Black Vault: The Government’s UFO Secrets Revealed takes you on a journey within the secret world of unidentified aerial phenomenon that has plagued the military since at least the 1940s. Declassified records prove that the UFO topic is one of the most highly classified and most elusive subjects the US Government has ever dealt with. Each chapter explores various agencies and their documents, and Greenewald breaks down the meaning of why some of the most important documents are relevant to proving a massive cover-up.
Along with declassified documents, Greenewald outlines the struggle it took him to get them. No other topic has proven so difficult in more than 8,000 FOIA requests that he has filed. He explores why that might be and meets skeptics and debunkers head on, outlining why some of their more prominent rebuttals for it all cannot be true.

Well researched
In the early chapters he does suffer from confirmation bias and a tendency to fit the evidence into his opinion that he’s already made. Certainly doesn’t prove anything with regards to Roswell.
In other chapters the narrative can prove to be convincing but it gets bogged down in technical details that don’t translate very well to an audio book (chapter 14 springs to mind). He makes the assertion that he’s proved certain things throughout but his threshold for what constitutes as “proven” is perhaps on a lower level than I’m comfortable with.
The last chapter sums it all up nicely, clearly taking what is a complicated scientific argument and trying to simplify it but again he only lists the logic and reasoning that backs up his arguments and forgoes any other.
Overall very well researched, he’s clearly very passionate about the subject and that comes across well. If you can approach this with a level head then there is lots to be gained from this book.

Well researched and very convincing.
A very systematic and thorough analysis on the topic. Lends credibility to the idea of researching the field in greater detail with an unbiased scientific approach. There is a difference between healthy scepticism and debunking. The latter have an attitude where a conclusion is made prior to analysis whereas a solid examination of all facts and evidence are required. The book is meticulous in its approach and the resulting conclusions are astounding.

Almost nerdy, exactly what this subject needs
No drama, serious, referenced and intelligent analysis of available details. a very rare find in this subject.
I read a poor review about the use of the word redacted, it's not that bad honestly. if you're expecting easy listening light entertainment, then it's not that.
