About this listen
An award-winning journalist investigates a story largely ignored by mainstream media but right there, in front of our eyes ...
Are we not alone? The moment we have an answer might have arrived.
Award-winning investigative journalist Ross Coulthart has been intrigued by UFOs since mysterious glowing lights were reported near New Zealand's Kaikoura mountains when he was a teenager. The 1978 sighting is just one of thousands since the 1940s, and yet research into UFOs is still seen by many as the realm of crackpots and conspiracy theorists.
In 2020, however, after decades of denial, the US Department of Defense made the astonishing admission that strange aerial and underwater objects frequently reported and videoed by pilots and tracked by sensors are real, unexplained and pose a genuine national security concern.
Compelled to investigate, Coulthart has embarked on the most intriguing story of his career, speaking to witnesses, researchers, scientists, spies, defence officials and intelligence insiders in an attempt to sift the truth from the conspiracy. In the US, powerful new laws and a hardening of government resolve may soon force the military and intelligence communities to reveal what they know about alleged UFO crash retrievals and secret reverse-engineering programs.
Bizarre, sometimes mind-blowing and utterly fascinating, in this new edition of In Plain Sight, Coulthart explains why there is cause for optimism that 'the biggest story ever' might finally be about to break.

Captivating and engaging
Loved the topic as a child, the brooding title piqued my interest to reexplore the topic. Very well narrated and laid out in a way that feels as though it perfectly brings one up to speed on the most interesting sightings over the last 30 years and beyond.

The book of the year for me. Its brillant
In Plain Sight, An Investigation into UFO and Impossible Science” is a joy to read as it's truly fascinating. If you like mysteries, conspiracies, new technologies, espionage, UFOs, and cover-ups, you`ll love this book as it covers them all. "In Plain Sight", is the perfect name for the book as it describes the greatest mystery of all time. I hope there is a sequel.

Excellent research of the UAP phenomenon
Fantastic analysis of the sometimes questionable evidence scattered throughout the subject. Coulthart speaks the words most of us are thinking when we hear some of the more sensational claims that have become commonplace with UFO'S, he calls out the bullshit, and presents the evidence exactly as it is, which is often shocking. I found it refreshing to hear someone genuinely excited and intrigued by the evidence he finds, but managing to keep his cool, and thankfully, a level head when he presents the evidence. He speaks a fantastic spark of humour, but manages to avoid letting it sink into mockery. It was fascinating to hear the sober version of the famous stories from UFO history, and a tonne of new information gathered I had never heard before. It is encouraging to have another great piece of journalism to offer people new to the subject, that isn't full of divisive merchandise flogging agendas (Stephen Greer), and new age spiritual stink breath. It really allows you to see the Phenomenon for what it is, something undeniably real, but critically misunderstood. I feel genuine sympathy for the people in military and government service whose lives have been irreversibly changed when witnessing events they couldn't comprehend, but were then mocked by their command and colleagues, and even somewhat for the people who have been forced to cover it all up for the last 80 years, who will ultimately be held accountable. Who else, too afraid to speak up about their experiences for fear of damaging their career or reputation are still staying quiet?
But you cannot avoid the conclusion that behind all this, people in private industry, and in collusion with shady figures within world governments, have hidden groundbreaking secrets from humanity, likely motivated by greed and power, and it seems likely now, fear of retribution.
The conclusions this book draws are absolutely staggering, I was constantly fascinated, and enjoyed Coulthart's writing style immensely. He thanks his family for putting up with his research for this book over the last two years, but I implore them, please let him do another one.

Worth a listen (pardon the accents though)
It's like a Greatest Hits collection for people getting into Ufology. All the usual suspects... Roswell, Rendlesham Forest, Phoenix Lights, Skinwalker Ranch etc. plus a couple lesser known and intriguing Australian accounts sprinkled in-between. The only downside to this book was the narration. I found the reader's audible breaths between sentences and cringeworthy American accents major distractions. But overall a book worth getting if you like the subject and would like to know more.

Superb piece of work...
Fantastic credibility added to a subject often kept on the fringes. As someone fairly knowledgeable in this area i felt the investigation and people Ross engaged with were all evidently the 'key players' in this field. Still enough to keep me interested, and loved that Ross lay it all on the line here. 4/5 on the performance as some of the voices of interviewees were a little hammy!!!? Other than that, amazing work. thansk ross for your book and for your efforts into investigating this topic and bringing it to the mainstream.

Strange and mindblowing
Don’t think one necessarily becomes a “believer” after this. But given the authors professional experience it’s hard not to take this, however crazy, somewhat serious.

objective and intruiging
As a half believer and half skeptic myself,
this audiobook walks on both sides of the fence when it comes to the UFO/UAP phenomena.
Rational and critical points against both debunkers and believers alike.
