Summary
In Matheson's vampire classic I Am Legend, a plague has decimated the world and transformed the unfortunate survivors into bloodthirsty creatures of the night. Robert Neville is the last living man on Earth. Every other man, woman, and child has become a vampire hungry for Neville's blood. By day he is the hunter, stalking the sleeping undead through the abandoned ruins of civilization. By night he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn. How long can one man survive in a world of vampires?
This recording also includes a sampling of other horror stories by Richard Matheson, some comic, all scary: "Buried Talents", "The Near Departed", "Prey", "Witch War", "Dance of the Dead", "Dress of White Silk", "Mad House", "The Funeral", "From Shadowed Places", and "Person to Person".

A good story, audio book performance (or Audible app) had some strange pauses
This audio book has I Am Legend and also number of other short stories. They’re a nice bonus but I bought it for the former so that’s what il reviewing: On the whole a good story. Vampirism as a germ is an interesting idea and given a patina of scientific respectability. Robert Neville, the protagonist, is drawn well. The audio book had a number of pauses and glitches but I think that’s mostly technical issues in the Audible app not the recording itself.

The main book is great
I liked the main story and it's completey different from the film, but I've stopped listening to the short stories after this as they just aren't my thing.

Hard to listen to
The narrator really acts out - some times to much. The fact that more stories are included came as a surprise to me. If I had known that I’d have settled for the other version of the audiobook.

I am legend plus extras
I am legend is a horror classic and here, being superbly narrated, is not to be missed, especially since it’s free as part of the plus catalogue. Some of the criticism seems to be from people who were expecting the same story as the film, which is fair if you enjoyed the film I suppose, but the film (will smith version) was utterly terrible and missed most of what the made the original a unique story. So don’t be put off this if you didn’t like the film - it’s only short after all so give it a go.
The additional short stories are an enjoyable added bonus, particularly given the eerie narration.

I Am Legend with a side of ham...
'I Am Legend' is a great book. I own a physical copy and the narrator does an excellent job of telling the story.
The only real downside to this are the other stories as the narrator for those is the polar opposite. Too many big brash cartoony voices put on for each character.

Nothing like the film
If you want to listen to this because you liked the film don’t bother. The film is so far away from the book that you would not recognise it. The story shows it’s age and is not very relevant to today’s reader being set in the 1970s. Also the story is quite short only 5-6 hours and the rest made up from other short stories. I had read this book 20 years ago and found I only needed to listen to the opening chapters and last 3 chapters as nothing much happens in the middle. If it wasn’t for the film no one would remember this book.

Glad it's free
I am legend is an incredible story and the narrator is awesome
The other stories...I suffered through half of them then deleted the book. I can't stand the voice and the short stories are well...meh

Best audio book so far
5 stars - because Yuri Rasovsy brings the story to life. I'm only on chapter 4 but am really looking forward to spending more time with this audio book. Good narration is the key to transporting you into the world of the book - Yuro Rasovsy does just that. I'll be looking for other audio books that he has narrated. I believe he passed on in 2012 - God rest his soul.
