About this listen

In the Kingdom of Shade, not even the dead may rest.

The undead rise, day after day, century after century, and they are delivered back to their peaceful graves by one group: the Hunters of Noelictus.

Slaying undead is an endless task, but one Hunter Haeight has aspired to all her life. She joins Noelictus' Hunter's Guild and swiftly works her way up the ranks, slaying zombies, skeletons, and ghouls with dedication and zeal.

However, there is a rot within the Kingdom of Shade, and Haeight's aspirations turn into doubts as she finds a web of conspiracies in the capital, Menorome. The Hunters there are off—something is afoot. It is a bewildering, overwhelming place for new Hunters, as well as the fourth Princess of Calanfer, Seraphel du Marquin, who has arrived for her marriage, unhappy and alone.

In Menorome, the streets shine with lights to ward off the darkness. For a Hunter, there is little rest or time. For a Princess, there is little to enjoy or look forward to. However, in the depths of despair, there is always the Singer. There is always a song. The Singer of Afiele has come to the city, same as the Princess and the Hunter, and all their fates will soon be intertwined in a greater web of secrets than any of them dreamed of.

Love the story

I can’t wait for the next book, this was extreme good had me hooked for most of the story, the only negative element is how every storyline ended on a cliffhanger/ unresolved.

Another great book from the world of The Wandering Inn!

I wish I had been able to listen to this at an earlier point in the main series. It's a little jarring going back over things that felt like they happened ages ago, but the story is great and starts to explain/add to a few mysteries.

Huntsong

Wow what a sequel. It really builds well from the first book.
I really enjoyed this book and series. It does extremely well to be in the wandering Inn universe, but at the same time feel completely separate that you know it’s a different series and storyline. Can’t wait for book 3!!!

pirateaba is a master

who's better a master who has practiced a thousand swings once or a master who has practiced one swing a thousand times.

pirateaba has written more than 1,000,000 words and has continously improved. Book 1 of the wandering Inn was rough but, the later books have all been a masterpiece. This second series is also top quality. It adds extra information about the world and is a great extension to the original story.

I do hope to hear more of the clown in book 1 though.

nonetheless thus book was amazing. I can't wait for book 3!!

Glad I started listening to this series!

I like most probably listened to the Wandering Inn before getting into this series. I found the first book in the Singer of Terandria to be a bit of a slow burn, still enjoyable once it got going. However I'm glad I stuck with it, as I really enjoyed this second installment.

I think this had the right mix between Cara and this newly introduced character called Haeight. I also found Cara to be more likible in this book. She has more self preservation, apart from her altercation with the Queen. It was interesting but I still felt the way she got out of her dire circumstances to be a little convenient.

I also like that there are more references to the main series in this book.

Only issue I have now is having to wait for the next book to come out. I think unlike the main series which is way ahead of the audiobooks, you can't read on from the end of the this audiobook. So you might have to be patient when waiting for the next book.

Andrea Parsneau did a great job as usual. I think she does quite a nice job of the singing segments but I liked the balance betweene song segments and song descriptions in this book.

As always, another winner in the ongoing series

This second volume in the Singer of Terandria takes Cara’s tale beyond the Crypt and puts her on the stage in the Capital and thence to the hunters guild as a “conscript hunter” (zombie fodder) in the company of a young disillusioned white haired hunter. Meanwhile Princess Seraphel meets her Groom to be almost in the middle of a siege. Other characters from Gravesong are reintroduced & new characters have their time in the Limelight, new places and contraptions are included within these pages all beautifully crafted into the story & history.
The only vexation being that I have to wait for the next Wandering Inn, mind you I could just start from the beginning again.
