About this listen
Ice meets fire in this opposites-attract lesbian romance, as layered, sassy, and smart as its characters.
Over one long night at a bar in Las Vegas, two powerful hotel executives meet, flirt, and challenge each other - having no clue they’re rivals after the same dream deal.
Brilliant ice queen Amelia Duxton is a hotel vice president who thrives on control, truth, and efficiency. She’s in no mood for love or the mess it brings. All she wants is to buy the coveted Mayfair Palace - a massive deal that could finally help her land the CEO job in her family’s hotel empire.
Fiery Kai Fisher is charming and chaotic and renowned for closing ambitious deals. Her sights are set on snatching the Mayfair Palace out from under the nose of her hated arch rivals, the Duxton family.
But when secrets emerge and everything starts to fall apart, how can either of the warring women win - especially when they’ve just met their match?

I was surprised at each junction. I thought something typical would happen and was riveted to story when it went in a different direction.

Another winner by Lee Winter
There are few Lesfic writers who can combine the right amount of suspense with romance and a good story to keep me interested, but Lee Winter does it again.
The fire and ice theme came over very well and having two women equal in their level of career and intelligence in combat also worked well. The underhand goings on in Lia's family, to stop her from becoming CEO, kept the listener interested as did Lia going undercover to find out the problems in her hotel.
All in all a great listen, helped greatly by Angela Dawes narration, although I'm still trying to work our Quinn's accent, Aussie/East London?
Can highly recommend!

Worth every minute
Rarely leave reviews but this book compelled me to. Has the perfect blend of romance and engaging plot that makes for a phenomenal read. The fact it doesn't have a 5 star rating whilst some other more mediocre stories do perplexes me, but all the same if you're looking for something truly engaging, look no further than this book.

Excellent plot, strong female leads with a nice slow burn romance that takes you all the way to the end. What else could you ask for? Definitely worth one of my credits 😀

Fabulously entertaining.
What a fantastic book with brilliant characters and storyline. I was glued to it and of course narrated by the amazing Angela Dawe who brings characters to life.
I highly recommend this book and I feel there could be spin-off books and novellas out of this. Five stars all round.

Breathtakingly Magnificent!
All’s fair in love and hotels? Oh my God, I absolutely adore this book, I almost feel lost for words! To be perfectly honest, everything about it is utter perfection. In fact, I was so blown away the first time I listened to it, my brain was too melted to even review it. Forget the 3 kings, this book has 3 Queens in it! Fire, Ice and narrator! This is the 4th book from Lee Winter I’ve experienced and every single time she blows my mind that much with her exceptional descriptive imagery, humour, and endearing characters, I find myself a blithering mess rocking back and forth in a corner.
Ever wondered what the sapphic lovechild of Romeo and Juliet, Comedy of Errors, and the Taming of the shrew would be like? Well, speculate no more because this opposites attract, fire meets ice romance between rivals will have your heart pounding and you laughing out loud throughout. The leading ladies in this incredible story couldn’t be more different, to paraphrase the book, “they are opposites in every way, except in those that matter”. The brilliant, blunt, and beautiful ice queen Amelia Duxton, European vice president of Duxton Hotels, thrives on order, precision, and logic. She has no time for love or mess, and to her, everything could be simplified greatly if everyone was just as honest as she was. So, who else could melt the walls around the ice queen and shake her world view, but a fire breathing dragon, with a heart of gold? Enter the clever, charming, and chaotic fire queen Kai Fisher, also known as “The Closer”, an executive for the Duxton’s arch-rivals, Grand Millennium hotels. Kai is a natural born negotiator, passionate, persuasive, adept at reading social situations and the embodiment of a “people person”. Now, I was never into science, but if my teachers used these two women as an example of what happens when “fire meets ice”, I probably would have paid more attention.
Lee Winter has created a truly hilarious story full of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes and have you gasping for a variety of reasons. The descriptive imagery in this book is sublime, not just in the way Winter paints the picture of the world the characters live in, but also in the way the characters look and feel. I felt truly transported into the luxury world of London and Las Vegas hotels and if I closed my eyes while I listened, I could also see every character so clearly. Speaking of characters, not only do the leading ladies have the epitome of chemistry, but every single character felt well rounded and 3-Dimensional. The awesome fivesome, as I will forever call them; Amelia, Kai, Milly, Quinn, and Monique Carson, were all written so exceptionally, it felt like I had known them all my life. Each of them were unique, but when they were all together the scene was spectacular. Lee has perfected the art of writing strong, independent, powerful women in her books and this one was no different. They all felt so complex, endearing, relatable (in different ways), and full of delicious layers. The dynamic between the two leading ladies was electric, then add their second in commands into the mix and you have yourself a cocktail of breath-taking characterisations and humour. The comedy threaded throughout this magnificent story is side splittingly hilarious, that you’ll find yourself chuckling days after just thinking about some of the lines. For example:
Amelia: "Not today, Satan."
Kai growls: "Let me in."
Now, what to say about the narrator of this audiobook? Well, I could describe Angela Dawe in one sentence. Angela is the best narrator I have ever listened to! I 100% could listen to her read the phone book or something. She elevates the story to new heights of greatness and makes every single character sound distinct and unique. It still shocks me to see it is only one narrator’s name for the audiobooks she performs, as her accents are so exceptional it sounds like a full cast of actors. I also can’t quite believe she isn’t a native Brit, her British accents are always fantastic and sound so realistic to the region.
I could write a full-on essay about how much I love this book, but I sum it up by simply saying: GO LISTEN TO THIS BOOK! You won’t regret it. I didn’t want it to end and can’t wait to listen to Monique’s short story in “Sliced Ice” next. I know for a fact; I will return to Amelia and Kai story many more times in the future. So, if you’re looking for a story full of steam where you’ll get hot under the collar, with laugh out loud moments that will stay with you, this book is for you!
