About this listen

I'd never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning.

He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. "Drive," he tells me, and I have no choice. He's a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.

The police say he's dangerously obsessed with me, but I'm the one who can't stop thinking about him.

Maybe, it's wrong to let him touch me. Maybe, it's wrong to touch him back. Maybe, these twisted dates need to stop. Except, he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions. So, I drive us under threat, until it's hard to remember I don't want to be there. Until it's too late to turn back...

Hostage is a dangerous stand-alone romance by The New York Times best-selling authors Skye Warren and Annika Martin. It's set in the same world as Prisoner, but can be listened to separately!

"Deliciously sexy, emotionally gripping...Hostage rocked my whole world." (Marni Mann, author of Prisoned)

"Fast paced and oh so addicting!" (Rachel Van Dyken, number one The New York Times best-selling author)

Not your typical captured story

I was captivated from the first chapter and I could not stop until the end. Stone is a hardened criminal. He can kill and not think about it again. But there is so much more to him. Brooke is a debutante, who has never seen the darker side when she is kidnapped by Stone. Like Brooke, I love my bad boys. Stone is obsessed with Brooke, but Brooke has feelings for Stone too. He saved her life numerous times because he was always watching. This is not Stockholm Syndrome, there is more depth to Stone than what meets the eye. As Stone's past was uncovered, I fell hard for him. So did Brooke. This was a twist on a typical captured girl, and I loved every word.

Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are an amazing narrating team. Mr. Morgan is the perfect voice to bring those bad boys to life. He has a voice that created the character I imagined Stone to be. Ms. Sweet brought out the innocence of Brooke, yet was able to show how strong she really was. I loved everything about this narration. It was so easy to get lost in the narration and feel like I was a part of the story.

An Excellent Dark Romance

Hostage is a brilliantly composed captor/captive romance. The storyline has darker elements, it's intense, entertaining, and very steamy. Skye Warren and Annika Martin, have written an engaging story with captivating characters; I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

The duel narration by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet is outstanding. They honed in on each character, portraying their personalities, bringing them to life. I adored their performances.

Overall, Criminals & Captives is a well-plotted and well-written series, with exceptional character development, and I highly recommend it.

My Thoughts on Hostage

This book was everything I hoped for after reading Prisoner and more. It was so intense. Some times sad, sometimes heated in anger, other times heated for a whole different reason. But it was a story I didn't want to stop listening to once I really got started.

I loved the way Stone and Brooke's story built up over time after starting quite memorably. It had so many unexpected twists and turns and ended so freaking perfectly. My only sad point is that I don't know if there will be more. I hope so but at this point I just don't know.

The narration on this one was excellent. I knew Jacob Morgan would be. He's a top 5 male narrator for me. But Lauren Sweet was so so good too. I felt like she had excellent emotion and a pretty good male voice. She also just sounded right and a good fit for the part. Overall it was just a really excellent experience.

Throw away boys with a HEA 🖤

Lauren & Jacob are just perfect as Stone & Brooke. Lauren has just the right amount of naive school girl & Jacob is flawless as the dark & gritty Stone.

Hostage is a shocking & haunting dark & gritty story of vengeance. Lauren ultimately saves Stone from himself🖤

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

I loved everything about this book from the authors’ terrific writing style to the characters and storylines they created and the amazing job the narrators did with and for the story. This is the type of book that is hard to put down, it grabs your attention right from the start and holds it captive to the very end. The characters are complex and well developed, Brooke, a naive teenager who lives with parents who are all about appearances. While taking a breather from her sweet sixteen party she stumbles upon a man getting brutally beaten. Brooke thinking she should save the guy winds up being taken hostage by the guy dong the beating. Stone, which we find out later is on a mission, a fact finding one the end result will be vengeance. He will do what he has to do to accomplish this including beating the info he is looking for out of someone. And he’ll stop anyone who gets in his way, even a naive innocent girl named Brooke. Only thing he couldn’t do it instead he holds threats over her so she would keep her mouth shut. This story completely wowed me and blew me away. I felt for Stone and admired his drive and determination, as well as his dedication to his brothers, the boys from the basement. He was a hardened individual who has a soft spot for Brooke. Brooke was in over her head with Stone but I admired her for standing up to him and for also seeing him, really seeing him. She seems mature beyond her years at times. This book is well plotted, there is never a dull moment, there is drama, angst, some twists, thrilling suspense and a slow burn dark romance. Thank you Skye Warren & Annika Martin for this terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They brought the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Their portrayal of the characters was spot on, from Jacob’s alpha Stone to Lauren’s naive innocence to her strength. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance, they captured the characters emotions, attitude and passion which could be heard in their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this terrific listen.

Enjoyed it

Hostage is the 2nd book in the Criminals and Captives series and I was hooked from start to finish. The story spans a few years but the tale that unfolds was a thrilling suspense with enough tension to keep me at the edge of my seat. The characters were so different yet so perfect for each other, you could easily feel the intense chemistry between them. They were well-developed complex individuals you will be rooting for throughout the story. This was an engaging story and I loved it. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of forbidden romances.

The audiobook version was narrated by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet. These two were perfect choices for this role and did an excellent job with the characters giving them all their own voices and personality. I enjoyed listening to them narrate this story.

I love a dark romance

I loved, loved, loved this audiobook. If I could give a book more than 5 stars, this would be it. The second in the series, and just so you know, book 1 was equally as good. Both books can be read as standalones, time wise they run alongside each other somewhat. When Brooke witnesses Stone brutally attacking an associate of her father at her 16th birthday party, Stone is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure she isn’t able to identify him. What he doesn’t expect is to develop feelings for his hostage. Brooke is sweet, innocent and desperate for love, but with a family only interested in social standing, she doesn’t particularly get the love and attention she craves. Don’t get me wrong, her parents love her, they just want her to be something she’s not. After she is taken by Stone, who she fears, but is unmistakably drawn to, she finds in him, someone she can depend on and trust. A brilliant story, continuing and concluding the drama from Prisoner. Great writing and characters, the narration was spot on, I just love Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet and they nailed the characters perfectly. As a side note, I didn’t particularly like Stone in book 1 (he was cruel to Abby), he did however redeem himself in book 2 (he was so sweet with Brooke). Highly recommend.

A great addition to the story.

I Loved book 1 Prisoner and I was so glad that Stone and Brooke got a book. This book spans a few years and you get to see Stone who cant let go of Brooke even if its just a few hours every few months to a year. Stone in book one was a bit of a jerk and a hard ass but in this one you get to see another side to him, he is still a hard damaged character bur Brook brings out the good in him. I think this is a great addition to the story and they fit so well together.

Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet did a fantastic job as Stone and Brooke. It was nice to hear from past characters and see what they have boon up to.

A great book 2 very entertaining and kept me gripped.x
