Carol Klein is one of Britain's best loved horticulturists, and for decades gardening has been at the heart of her extraordinary life. From her childhood adventures in Manchester to her first experiments in plantswomanship at Glebe Cottage, and from training as an artist and a teacher, and then finding an entirely unexpected career as one of Britain’s most beloved television presenters, in this long-awaited memoir Carol tells the story of the people, places and plants that have shaped her life.
Exploring why our relationship with the natural world is so important, and how it brings joy, creativity and good health to our lives, Carol also offers irresistible insights on her favourite flowers and plants, and how to help them flourish. A story of a life lived happily amongst the greenery, this book is the perfect companion for anyone who has sought solace in the natural world.

Really engaging
Carol has the loveliest narrating voice and I have always found her so easy to listen to. It was wonderful to find out all about her background and beloved family who she clearly adores. A really interesting read ❤️

An absolute delight.
I've always warmed to this woman more than most presenters of garden shows ; her ability to communicate a child-like & deeply primal delight and excitement about growing plants mixed with a solid wealth of practical and academic horticultural understanding are what makes her just shine on screen. This autobiography is a generous and intimate glimpse into the life of a highly creative and intuitive person, someone different, someone brave enough to live beautifully outside of a mold - someone who instinctively wants to nurture and to share her joy and understanding of plants, art and love with the people around her and the world. What a woman!! Thanks Carol.x I really enjoyed this xx

A beautiful insight to an interesting life
I loved the fact that Carol read this. It makes it. You feel like you are sat with a friend. A friend that you can relate to, can trust their advice and marvel at some of the scrapes and adventures that have come along. It is a beautifully constructed book, balancing life tales with their ups and downs, insights into views on things and helpful and educational info and stories on plants and the world of plants. I nearly cried when the book finished, it had become part of my day with her gorgeous timber playing into my ears, at times, transporting me to events with her, so amazing are her descriptions of all things. You can feel her genuine, loving nature and this will definitely be listened to more than once. Thank you Carol, for sharing your life... I want to hear more!
