Deck the mall with boughs of holly and murder.

Attempts to get Stacie in the holiday spirit fall flat when Santa’s elf finds herself in a shooter’s crosshairs. With another shooting, initial theories go up in smoke and the search is on for the true motive. Stacie avoids her own stressors following up on the shooting and murder. Faced with relationship turmoil and a killer on the loose, Stacie embraces her "bah humbug" perspective as she seeks to identify the culprit.

The trouble trio

I enjoyed this book and the only reason it didn't get a five star is because I wish it could have been longer. This is book five in this fun series and works very well as a standalone mystery and is great if you only have a few hours to fill in. I keep coming back to the series because I like the characters. Stacie is a great main character, she is smart and capable, so can solve the case and also know when to call for help, unlike many cozy mystery sleuths who are forever needing rescuing. Her group of friends are also fun and colourful. The mystery was good, with several targets for who the killer wanted dead and a mystery man who kept you guessing as to how he was involved or what he wanted. I also liked the Christmas theme but as it is a good mystery it can be listened to any time of the year.I
Stacie is busy at work making sure nobody goes over board with The Christmas spirit, so as a result she is not feeling it especially with her boyfriend away on a training course. Her friends decide to help by taking her Christmas shopping but when they hear gun shots, the trio heads towards the danger. They find one of Santa's Elves shot but alive. Why would a gun man only fire twice? was she the intended target and it wasn't a spree killer? Stacie and her friends keep seeing the same man and check in on Santa and his Elf, fearing the event isn't over. Then Santa is found dead and all there theories need to be looked at again with Santa as the original target but with the mystery man is still hanging around its anybody's guess who the target was or is. Can they work out what is going on in time to celebrate Christmas?
I like the narrator. She is a good choice for Stacie and her friends and gives them voices to match the picture in my head.

Entertaining mystery.

An entertaining Christmas themed mystery for Stacie and her friends, with lots of surprises and humour. Naomi Rose-Mock narrates the book beautifully.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Excellent seasonal cozy mystery

When an elf is shot in front of them at the Mall, the trouble three investigate. A murder, various suspicious characters and Christmas shopping make for a fun cozy mystery. The story is light, seasonal, well written and entertaining. I like these books. Naomi Rose-Mock is an easy to listen too narrator with a decent range. Fun mystery.

Great series - just so comforting

A Stacie Maroni mystery is just like a warm hug and I just love listening to them, they work so well. The narration just adds to the story. My only disappointment was it was short.
This could be listened/read as a standalone but to get the full benefit I would listen to everything in order.

How does Stacie fit everything in? How many Hallmark movies can she watch? These are the questions that were left with me by the end of the novella.
