Summary

The hunter becomes the hunted....

When a man is found dead at the remote church of Heavenfield, DCI Ryan is the only other person for miles around. The police have no weapon, no motive and no other suspects.

Already suspended from Northumbria CID, Ryan must fight to clear his name. But soon more than his career is at stake when prominent members of the mysterious Circle begin to die.

Somebody wants Ryan's name to be next on the coroner's list, and to survive he must unmask the devil who walks among them - before it is too late. Unfortunately for Ryan, the devil looks just like everybody else....

Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit from LJ Ross, set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape.

Yet another litter of dead bodies …

Well drawn characters and landscape but after listening to the first 3 in the series I was looking for more than another litter of dead bodies (the main difference now being not just dead young women but a few more dead men!). Obviously the writer is onto a good thing here but, after 30 odd hours, I wished for the plot to vary a bit more.

Great story

This was a really good story. You need to read the books in order as the back story follows on.

My only criticism is that the editors don't know their history. Reference is made to Florence Nightingale and the Boer War. She was over 80 at that time and wouldn't have been in the Boer War. She served in the Crimean War.

Prison Governors and Summer Holiday in the UK!

First, again another great book, yes a bit unbelievable, but very good. Fantastic performance from the narrator. Only one issue, again present in other books, although they sorted the Prison Officer and Post-mortem issue. In this one, we have Prison Wardens (Senior Prison Officer, wing Governor) and he went on a summer vacation. That said, great book and full of interesting characters.
