Summary
That’s the thing about hearts - like waves, they break too.
Grief.
I’ve never battled with the raw, debilitating pain that comes with it. Then a twist of fate hits me out of nowhere, and I can barely keep from drowning. It’s like weights tied to my ankles in the middle of a raging ocean. I’m helpless, with no way to swim back to the surface.
But fate is crueler still, bringing my stepbrother back for the first time in years.
Cannon never wanted this family. Especially me. Still, he’s always been my greatest desire. And my biggest weakness. He’s unattainable. Straight, engaged, and with a seemingly perfect life on the other side of the country. It’s something I’d do well to remember, yet when he stays, it’s so easy to forget.
In finding solace together, we mend what once was broken. This loss bonds us. Changes us. He’s become more than a brother or a lover. He’s my anchor.
So how am I supposed to keep my head above water when I’ll eventually lose him too?
Head Above Water is a stand-alone, full-length MM enemies-to-lovers stepbrother romance novel.

Emotional rollercoaster!
A little spoiler in here so don’t read if you don’t want to know anything.
I will start by saying that it is a good book, great book. An emotional rollercoaster! And I liked it! But it was something that didn’t make me fall in love with it. The cheating part is one thing, even if that is kind of realistic, but also how Cannon handles that whole situation. And the relationship between Cannon and his dad. I wanted more details and background. Obviously they didn’t talk but how did they even get to that point they did. And there is a short bonus chapter in the end about when the MCs meet for the first time when they were 9 and 7 years old. It felt like that was a prologue…
Again, it’s a good book!
The narration is really good.

Beautiful but I wanted more
Hot and heartbreakingly beautiful. However, I love a good dose of angst but this is borderline depressing. It revolves more around grief than the actual relationship and with an engaged stepbrother I wanted more drama and there could’ve been so much more.

My poor broken heart
Urgh CE Ricci I have no words. This book, this audio was just EVERYTHING. Zach and Michael were phenomenal as Cannon and Easton. I felt every. Single. Emotion! Their annoyance, their sorrow, their pain, their happiness. Everything! I cried 3 times during this audio it was so raw and beautiful. Cannot wait to hear more from these narrators and more of your books!

A bit melodramatic but fantastic narrators
The story was a bit too melodramatic for my taste, and there was a lot of telling instead of showing. But the writing was beautiful, and the two narrators were fantastic. My only criticism is that Zachary Johnson's voices for Both Cannon and Easton were too similar, but otherwise he was wonderful.
