Good old Amelia
I already knew this was a fantastic story and I enjoyed hearing it very much. HOWEVER, although the reader is excellent at the female voices, her version of Ramses REALLY didn't work for me. And why did she give David an accent?

as always a delight!
never fails to please or deliver hours of entertainment. the narrator is absolutely perfect and the changes in noises for the characters are just perfect
highly recommend this series

At Last!
I'm quite late to this series, so am listening to the books in order (and waited to read The Painted Queen before I continued with the other books). The story was full of thrills, spills and, as ever, brilliantly narrated by Barbara Rosenblat.

Funny & charming, beautifully read!
Narrator Rosenblat's virtuoso performance enlivens Peters' genuinely witty tales of a gung-ho heroine. Set amidst the heat and mystique of turn of the century Egypt, Amelia, Peabody to her Egyptologist husband and Mother to son Ramses, is a derring-do Brit of the first water. Peter's amusing characterisation, not without irony, is underpinned by genuine respect for the people and country. Rosenblat's vocal range, command of accents and intelligently nuanced delivery makes for an audible delight.

As excellent as even the story being made more enjoyable by the reader changing voices for all characters. Wonderfully done

Marvellous
I really like this series. The commentary on gender roles tinged with great humour all wrapped up in a mystery. Wonderful.

Great audiobook
This is my favourite book in the Amelia Peabody series and I have reread it countless times. Barbara Rosenblat really did it justice. She brings all of these wonderful characters to life in a great way. She made this audiobook as good if not better than the book. It makes you laugh, cry, tear up, love and want to shake them all in turn. Great story and great voice

The moment we've all been waiting for...
This is the 12th book in Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody series. The books are part archeology, part crime/murder mystery, part family saga and overall extremely funny. I'm sure different people enjoy them for different aspects, personally, I enjoy all of these aspects but as time goes on I think it's the family saga that appeals to me the most. For other fans who feel the same way this is the book they have been waiting for!
If you have listened to (or read) all the books in the series so far then this book is the pay-back for the heart-break of 'Falcon at the Portal'. I think fans will find that in this book Peters manages to answer all the questions, and resolve all the loose ends - and I do mean all of them!
'He Shall Thunder in the Sky' is not a good choice for a first Peabody to listen to - for best effect these books should be experienced in order, starting with 'Crocodile on the Sandbank' - I think it would still be enjoyable but the relevance of some parts would be lost.
All in all I didn't find that there was a single disappointing moment, enjoy!

5⭐️ Brilliant
Again we are transported to Egypt. This time The Great War is raging and as always the Emerson’s are drawn into danger....so much danger! Perfect narration, is it just like seeing a film inside your head. I think it is Barbara Rosenblats voice that makes these books so enjoyable. I did download another Amelia book narrated by someone else. I just couldn’t listen to it. Enjoy the especially deadly peril in this book.

Brilliant
Brilliant performance and brilliant culmination of several threads that have been running through previous books in the series. I have listened to this series several times, it is like an old friend keeping me company through the household chores, and I am still gripped by this novel. Start at the Crocodile on the Sandbank and keep going. Enjoy!
