About this listen

Hannay—His 5 Adventures

By John Buchan

Narrated by Graham Scott

The listener can now enjoy all five adventures of Buchan's indefatigable hero Richard Hannay in one bundle.

First, in The Thirty-Nine Steps, Hannay struggles to thwart an assassination plot designed to hasten war between Britain and Germany. Later he is plucked from the trenches first, in Greenmantle, to frustrate a plot to ferment an uprising in the Islamic world; and then, in Mr. Standfast, to undertake a vital secret mission against a German spy ring operating among pacifist elements in England. After the war, his adventures continue in The Three Hostages when he reluctantly agrees to help recover the kidnapped children of three prominent men; and then in The Island of Sheep, when an old oath to protect the son of a friend from his days in Africa draws him into new danger.

Classic stories

John Buchan deserves to be read more widely. Very 1930's. The narrator has the perfect voice for these stories. Very enjoyable.

Narrator needs shooting

How to completely shag a great story.
A nasal one dimensional reading.
By pass and go elsewhere.
Of course- if you do return too many poor quality stories- Amazon get in touch with a threatening email.
Maybe if they spent more time sorting out good narrators it wouldn’t be an issue.- still big business vs us.

Very poor reading

The reader on these books has a very boring and monotonous voice which ruins the books.

Barrel, viagra falls, go!

I love the Hanney books, who doesn't at a ripe old age!
I'm bitterly disappointed with this book due to the sound quality deteriorating to such a point it's not listenable. It sounds like the narrator has been hog tied, and either been dumped in the deep end of a swimming pool, or nailed into a barrel and thrown over Niagra falls.
