About this listen

Confined to a London penthouse his whole life, hardly anybody knows that happy-go-lucky Raphie d’Oro is a prince in exile. Not even his grumpy new bodyguard, Griff Thompson. But when assassins strike, Raphie is forced to flee out into a strange new world with his crush on Griff growing. It’s a race against time to get Raphie to his European home country, so he can claim the throne and save his life.

Griff has to remain professional, especially when he discovers Raphie is a real-life prince, but he’s increasingly drawn to the beautiful Raphie and his mesmerizing long hair. There are only so many beds they can share before the pull between them becomes impossible to ignore.

But they’re living in a fantasy. Raphie is going to be a king, and Griff is almost twice his age and going nowhere. Griff knows they have no future together, no matter what Raphie insists. However, Griff also knows he’ll do anything to protect Raphie from harm, and that includes not breaking his heart. Can he really do his duty and walk away, or will true love conquer all?

Hair Out of Place is a steamy, stand-alone MM romance novel featuring a fierce feline companion, a lot of mouthwatering food, even more mouthwatering snuggles, a makeover for a royal ball to remember, and a guaranteed HEA with absolutely no cliff-hanger.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt!

I enjoyed this book immensely, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. This is my first Helen Juliet book, I enjoyed her writing style and the the characters and storylines she created. I love how she put her own spin on the classic fairytale Rapunzel, it is imaginative and original. I adored the two lead characters, Griff Thompson and Raphael “Raphie” d’Oro, they were easy to relate to and connect with. While some of the characters and storylines were over the top at time I felt it added to the charm of the story and made it seem more of a modern day fairytale. Griff work in security and is hired to be Raphael’s new body guard, his first day on the job turns in to a whirlwind of activity and action. His client is threatened and he is forced into protective mode even before he is properly informed of details and what the job entails. It does not take long to figure out he is in way over his head. Raphie, has lived a life in seclusion seeing only his mother and staff, but he spent his whole life preparing for the day he would have to leave. But he soon learns learning remotely is not a substation for what it is like in real life. Griff turns out to be the perfect man for the job and maybe even for him. Not only did these two instantly bond but Griff was patient with Raphie, he fought off his attraction because he knew nothing could happen other then safely getting him to Campulan so he could claim his rightful place on the throne. I love dhow everything played out in this book, the story is both beautifully and cleverly plotted, there was plenty of drama, action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, some humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance with some hot sexy times. Shout out to Sparrow, Raphie’s side kick who accompanied him on his journey. Helen Juliet, thank you for the fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Kieran Flitton is a talented narrator and voice artist. He did a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own distinct voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the fabulous listen🎧

Thank you #GRR

A Lifetime Spent On The 60th Floor

A M/M contemporary retelling of the classic fairytale Rapunzel. Raphael d"Oro had lived virtually all of his twenty-one years in near seclusion for his own protection. On the day his new bodyguard Griff Thompson starts work everything changes in a dramatic and terrifying fashion! Griff must keep Raphael safe!
Kieran Flitton did a truly fantastic job narrating the story. I loved every second of this story.

The bodyguard, the prince and a sassy feline!

Griff's first day on the job starts with a bang! He finds himself protecting a young prince/king-in-waiting from assassins. Griff and the prince (Raphie) make their way from England to Raphie's country. On the way they get to know each other, fall in love and agonise (well Griff does) over how a future king can be with a much older commoner.
This is truly one of those stories that should be enjoyed for what it is - a break from reality.

Kieran Flitton did a nice job with the narration, though his cadence took some getting used to. Overall, an enjoyable narration.

Sunshine, sweetness, love & a little danger!

I love Rapunzel (well Tangled really) and Helen has done a fantastic job of encapsulating the sunny sunshine of Rapunzel from Tangled, with the classics of Rapunzel locked in a tower and brought it into the modern day and made it queer! what more could you ask for!

A thoroughly enjoyable adventure with danger, kindness and love. Becoming who you were born to be and facing a whole new world while being true to their self, Raphie is just wonderful! I am loving Helen's retellings and this one is fantastic!!! if you love queer retellings Helen Juliet's story are for you!!!

Mission Impossible meets Slipper and the Rose

There was no doubt I was going to love this because it is a Helen Juliet book. What I didn't know was just how much I would love it. First, I am a sucker for both age gap and bodyguard romances so this was a sure bet. What I didn't expect was how much the adventure of getting Raphie to his kingdom safely would remind me of all the fun I used to have watching Mission Impossible and seeing how they would accomplish similar missions. There was also a reminder of the Basic Rathbone/Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes film Pursuit to Algiers where Holmes is attempting the same feat. That would have been enough, but when Griff becomes convinced he has to leave for the good of Raphie and the country he is to rule I was reminded of one of my favorite (if heartbreaking) scenes in The Slipper and the Rose where Gemma Craven faces the fact she has to leave and sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of the Prince and his subjects. It got me there and it got me here. So many memories and yet this was not at all derivative, it felt totally fresh. Kieran Flitton has been on a run of great performances in numerous "royal" romance books lately and this just continues his streak. He get all the action, all the heartbreak and all the romance just right.

Action-packed contemporary retelling of Rapunzel.

Another great addition to Helen Juliet’s modern, M/M retelling of classic fairy tales. The author has a knack for sweet, quite low-angst stories, and the romance part between Raphie and Griff is exactly that: sweet, steamy and absolutely swoony.
BUT, Raphie and Griff are also on the run to save Raphie’s life; , and on a time limit, if Raphie is to claim his right to the throne of the imaginary reign of Campanula.
Griff’s struggle to remain professional as Raphie’s bodyguard is at war with his desire to wrap his arms around the younger man as his lover and never let him go!
I adored Raphael, a bright ray of sunshine, and so sweet he reminds me of a fluffy kitten, but, if provoked, the kitten has claws!

This may be my new favourite narration by Kieran Flitton so far: listening to Kieran call Raphie “beautiful” or “my clever boffin” in Griff’s gruff voice was the best thing ever!

Fun royal romance

Great characters, fun fairy tale story vibe with a nice balance of heat and action. Loved the cat. Particularly loved that the story was about a non-binary royal and while it addressed the issues with ingrained cisnormativity, Rafi's gender wasn't a major obstacle to overcome or something that anyone but the villains asked him to hide or force into conformity. Great read, super fun to see a queer monarch.

An adventurous reimagined Rapunzel

I found this to be a very enjoyable reimagining of Rapunzel. Full of excitement and adventure and so very up to date.
Narrator Kieron Flitton formed the story so well giving everyone such distinct characters. I especially liked the comic assassins.

MM riff on Rapunzel & bodyguard is hot and sweet!

In this super fun modern reimagining of the Rapunzel story, beautiful Raphie, with his requisite long blond tresses, lives in a London high-rise with his mother and a precocious cat. Griff is a new bodyguard who comes to join the protection detail on a day when all hell breaks loose, and Raphie and Griff must flee on a road trip to the principality of Campanula, where Raphie must claim his birthright as monarch. I enjoyed this opposites-attracting, forced proximity story very much… A bit older and more experienced, Griff tries to resist the attraction to Raphie, but it’s obvious from the start what an impossibility that would be. There is not a dull moment in this fast-paced, fun tale with lots of heat and overflowing with feels, and the top-notch narration by Kieran Flitton brings these characters to life in the best way. His voice and characterizations never disappoint, nor does Ms Juliet’s storytelling. I loved it.
