About this listen
I’ve wanted Gunnar forever...and it’s time for him to see that I’m not a kid, anymore.
I grew up in Hell’s Ankhor, and even though I’m 25, they all still see me as Ankh and Priest’s kid. Especially Gunnar. The Sargent has known me for years and watched me grow up. I would give anything to have him see me as the man I’ve become, instead of the scrawny boy I used to be, but it’s never going to happen.
I need to face the fact that Gunnar will never be mine, but when a devastating revelation sweeps through the club and cuts me to the core, he’s the one I turn to. And just when it seems like things might change between us, a threat from a rival MC puts me in the crosshairs.
We can fight any battle that comes at us, but can I make Gunnar believe that our relationship is really strong enough to face any challenge? Or, will new dangers and old fears break our hearts and put the club at risk?

Great
Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda did some nice work on Gunnar. Loved the character, story can stand on its own. Thomas Hart did amazing work with the narration. Will keep an eye open for book 3.

good listen
Only thing I disliked was that some of the characters sounded too much alike but overall it wasn't that bad of a listen. Well worth the credit.

Fantastic
Gunnar and Raven’s story was absolutely fantastic. Gunnar kept digging himself into a hole and there were times I just wanted to tell him to keep his trap shut.
An emotional, gripping and action packed instalment.
Narrator was excellent and made the story come alive.

Love this series
I was hooked on this story and pairing of Raven and Gunnar since the teaser excerpt in Blade and it did not disappoint. It was hard to watch these two circle each other for so long, trying to get past the demons from Afghanistan and the murder of Ankh. It was totally believable that Gunnar would turn out to be a gentle soul trying to protect Raven from the burden of doing violence to Bane and it was equally believable that Raven would read it all wrong as still being thought of as a kid, unworthy of adult responsibility in the club and its business. The pace of this one is slower in a sense than that of Blade but it fits the overarching theme of the ways violence can corrode the soul. The ending shower scene when Gunnar finally opens up was exactly the payoff their story needed. The underlying plot with the Vipers and the human trafficking operation is very well done. Each book brings us a bit closer to the core of the mystery and to how the ring will be brought down. I love that we get more details here and a real shocker of a reveal at the end that I never saw coming, which promises that Coop and Rebel's story is going to be fantastic! Off to grab that one now. Thomas Hart does a great job with these characters. It can't be easy voicing so many Alpha male types and making them distinct and recognizable but he does it and also brings out all the stresses and emotions the characters are going through.

Great Narration!
I enjoyed a lot this age gap story. Raven in my opinion is one of the best characters I've read in the series, his attitude in life and his determination while confronting difficult situations are my favorite part of the story. He and Gunnar finding each other in all the chaos, while learning acceptance and how to love was really, really sweet to witness. In addition the voice and performance of Mr Hart made justice to the characters and the story... a great narration!

I loved Gunnar.
I loved Gunnar, There’s something about unrequited love and proving yourself. I love the narrator’s voice and pace. I like that he used different voices for dialogue but the narration part was the same. The story was hot and sexy which I love. I definitely enjoyed listening to this audio and recommend it.

it's just the beginning
Argh! I love Raven! He's so strong, smart, clever and caring. He almost cares too much. I felt for him every time Gunnar jerked him around and while "I get" why Gunnar did what he did it still sucked for Raven. I did like that these two did talk it out quite early in their "relationship" and thankfully both were honest and there was next to know stupid "he doesn't want me" back and forth without actually talking. There was just their own insecurities and worries from their own pasts and thoughts which I thought was done really well and added a new level of authenticity and "realness" to the story. it endeared me to Gunnar and Raven even more!
I really like how this series is set up so far and how we're given a taste of the next book and couple as their hints are weaved into this story! it's really well done and I can't wait to find out more about the happy go lucky Coop!

Great story, but Gunnar's insecurity got tiresome
I was eager for this story to come out because I really wanted to know more about Raven after the first book. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the relationship between Raven and Gunnar. Raven has loved Gunnar for years, but Gunnar thinks of him as a kid. There is innate attraction between them, but Gunnar fights what he feels due to loyalty to Raven's late father and his own feelings of low self-esteem. There was so much back and forth, angst, and insecurity that keeps them at odds and results in Raven making some very risky and foolish moves. I loved the underlying story about Raven's father and the mystery of what really happened when he died. There were a lot of intriguing twists. and I liked seeing how the club hierarchy worked and how justice was served. Bottom line, although the back and forth between Raven and Gunnar got a little tiresome, I still love Raven's intelligence and computer skills. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Luke/Rebel in the next book.
The narration was great, but definitely softer than you might expect to hear from MC members, except for Bane. I liked it, but if you prefer your MC characters to have low, cigarette-rough voices, it might not be for you.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
