Christina O'Connor is the main prosecution witness from the Huddersfield Grooming scandal. In 2017, 11 men were convicted of a staggering 43 offences against her, including 22 counts of rape.
In this memoir, Christina will describe how, from being a happy child with a loving family, she fell into the clutches of a grooming gang whose abuse of children earned them a total of 221 years in prison. Christina's helpless parents tried desperately to save their 13-year-old daughter as she began playing truant, and was lured into sexual activities with complete strangers, in exchange for pizza, vodka and cannabis.
After five years of almost daily rape, Christina committed robberies under duress from the grooming gang and was jailed. She made a complaint to police about the abuse, but no action was taken.
She sees the prison term as her salvation; from this moment she turned her life around. Two years after her release, her police statement was found at the back of a filing cabinet, and Operation Tendersea, the investigation into the grooming gang was launched.
This is the first time Christina has spoken out. She has waived her right to anonymity and wants the world to hear her voice

Excellent
Such a tragic, heart wrenching situation. Sharing her story demonstrates such bravery and courage - the more these stories are shared will hopefully reduce the amount of children this may happen to in the future.

Harrowing but Powerful book
Brilliant book even though Chritina was left down by so many people. The courage & bravery of this girl and so many other survivors that spoke against these vile cretins is awesome

Human Trafficking
These grooming gangs are evil beyond words. Felt sick listening to Christina’s horrific abuse at the hands of these beasts. Let down by the school, police, health professionals & social work. Let down by everyone.

Tragic truth
This was a well written and presented account of a devastating adolescent hood. Such a strong girl and now woman! Abuse is always the fault of the abuser, I hope one day the author believes that too.

Heart wrenching account of a young girl who was abused by a gang.
This story was gripping! It is absolutely disgusting how she was let down by people in authority. Years later she is still haunted by her past experiences on a daily basis. How this strong woman has survived her traumatic childhood is is astonishing beyond belief. I cannot even to begin to imagine what she was and still is going through. A truly remarkable young woman.

Heartbreaking , raw and powerful
What a woman!! You have gone through more people will ever do in a lifetime and you are here, your voice and experience is being heard. Such a heartbreaking account that no child, parent should ever have to live through.
