Summary

Be bold. Be brave. Be Viking....

The uplifting, laugh out loud debut novel from the best-selling author of The Year of Living Danishly.

Frazzled mum Alice Ray likes to think she’s on top everything - she has four bags-for-life in the boot of her car for heaven's sake. But after spectacularly embarrassing herself at work, she finally gives in to her sister’s pleas to take a much-needed break. But this is not the luxury spa holiday Alice hoped for - instead, she finds herself in Denmark, in the middle of nowhere, on a ‘How to be a Viking’ getaway.

Can the two sisters finally learn to get along, or will learning to embrace their inner warriors just make them better at fighting? Two sisters. One Scandi holiday they'll never forget...

Really uplifting

I found the story really uplifting and the narration really engaging! I finished it wanting more of the Viking advice.

A must read

This is a laugh out loud book with a great storyline of two sisters that have drifted apart and their journey of reconnecting.

Good read!

read this after reading Living Danishly. Was initially disappointed that this wasn't a follow up book but once I flung that feeling off I really enjoyed the story.
The narrator was good... especially liked the different voices. Could really get into each character. Well worth a read!

Funny and feel good

It took me a little while to warm to the characters but once I got there, I really enjoyed this book. Lighthearted and smiles while reading.

Great story, terrible narrating

It was very hard to get through the listening of the audio. The voice was WAY to high pitched and screechy most characters. Great story overall, but the audio was unbearable. A shame because I love this author.

NOT MY CUPPA TEA ☕

I found this book very boring to listen too but I listened to it all as I kept thinking the story would get better but it didn't and it actually sent me to sleep.

Juliette Burton is a brilliant narrator so she did her job well.
I am relieved that I didn't waste a credit as the book is FREE to listen too through the Plus Catalogue included membership 🌠

Ridiculous

Flimsy story, vapid characters, struggling to find the laugh out loud funny as promised by the blurb. Narration varies, main protagonist voice is fine, sister is shrill and completely at odds with description of character.

Seriously boring!

Couldn't stand any longer than the start of chapter 3. Can I get a refund?

After a poor start

The story picks up somewhat. The story was not well read which made it even more difficult to go through with reading it. If it hadn’t been for the book club I would have given up on it. The last half of the book is more interesting because it’s explained why Alice behaves the way she does, and the characters generally become more interesting.
