Summary
The Penistone Line is a railway line in South Yorkshire, England. It runs from Sheffield to Huddersfield, via Penistone and Barnsley, and has a history that goes back almost two centuries. In that time, it has picked up more than its fair share of ghost stories, perhaps due to the fact that its early history was marked by a number of accidents and disasters leading one Victorian reporter to call the line "The Graveyard of the Railways".
There are many ghost stories associated with the Penistone Line, including the story of the policeman who patrols his beat from the great beyond, the story of the first documented use of a crystal ball, several ghost trains, a portal to the other side, and even the story of a Victorian-era hoax.
Whether you are interested in the paranormal or whether you are interested in the history of the railways, there is something for you inside Ghosts of the Penistone Line. This book tells the stories of the ghosts who haunt the Penistone Line, and it also explores the history of the line and the events that have led to its reputation as a haunted railway.

Ghosts on the Penistone Line
Another great collection of short ghost stories from Sheffield's answer to Danny Robins!
This collection is linked by a Yorkshire railway with the very unnerving name as the "Graveyard of Railways". There's plenty of ghost stories and some fun curios too. The tales are told in his familiar chatty style that makes these books easy to digest.
Adrian's go-to narrator Peter McGiffen does his usual solid work on this, the fifth book in the series.
I believe the author has even organised a ghost train, on the line, complete with tales told on the trip! Taking the listening experience to a new level!

Fascinating.
This is a fascinating collection of stories about one of our local railway lines. It is well written and tells a lot of the history of the Sheffield to Huddersfield line otherwise known as the Penistone line. A great addition to the Strange Britain collection of books from Adrian Finney. From manifestations to portals into the afterlife it kept me gripped from start to finish, I've actually listened to it twice in the last week as it's that kind of book. Pete McGiffens narration is excellent and keeps the stories alive... kinda! ☺ Highly recommended read/listen for Halloween or any time of year.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review.
