About this listen
The ghostly little monk of Foulridge and the giant apparition from Heaton Norris are just two of the denizens of the North-West you might not care to meet on a dark, stormy evening. But for those intrepid souls whose hearts quicken at the thought of eerie footsteps and muffled groans Peter Underwood has assembled an impressive collection of traditional legends.

comical accents
Hard to take this seriously due to the narration! The accents are quite comical, I am not sure uf this is deliberate!

I love all the old ghost stories
A good collection of ghost stories from the North West of England. The narration is quite fast, so I turned the speed down a little, there are a few from homes of old Coronation Street actors, and quite a few from old landmarks in the North West. If you click the three little dots in the top right corner of the screen, you can open a PDF of accompanying photos from the book, which I found by accident. There's a few places I want to visit now that I've heard these stories.

Very repetitive
I regret paying a credit for this book. It really is just like a list, in alphabetical order, of any kind of local ghost story. Some are only a few sentences long. The narrator sounds like he is from the 1970s just like when the book was written, and the odd wording should perhaps have been changed to suit modern audiences (such as calling a rapist a "lusty man" or whatnot).

Stilted
I know this book is older, but it is stilted. The only reason I got through so much of it is because I fell asleep and it played on through the the night.
