Summary

She Chose the Hardest Way

The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires.

Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard.

Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival. All their training, standards, discipline - all the hard paths - have led to this. If she and her fellow marines are to come out of this alive, Andien will have to find out who she truly is...and what she can become.

Best-selling military science fiction author Jason Anspach and USMC/US Army veteran Michelle C. Meyers explore the rigors of combat, survival, and the human will in this edge-of-your-seat account set in the Galaxy’s Edge universe.

Please don't let the narrator do anymore accents!

Great story but the please just let us imagine the accents of the characters in the story, tell me they are Scottish or Irish (I really was not sure).

Kristine can tell a great story but this does take away from the overall performance.

Good listen

Good story, bit short but I enjoyed.
Strange part of the story, getting attacked in a compound and no support weapons available! Bit odd but enjoyable.

"Intensity, alertness, fear and adrenaline."

Full action military science fiction novella set in the Galaxy's Edge world, tracing the earlier development of Andien Brexim.
Performed with skill in the first person by Kristine Hvam and currently available to download for free from the Audible Plus programme.
A recommended read for all military SF fans and especially those who have already discovered the really excellent series by Jason Anspach

A great story

Very well written, captivating, leaves the reader wanting more. The reader is a good match for the characters they play.

GI Jane but with space cowboys

Decent book. But kinda lost me for a bit when they went into the whole it’s the future and women don’t have equality and aren’t considered for special forces. Kinda felt like the author had an agenda they just could hold back even though it took from the story. Would have much preferred if they just assumed that equality is normal, as it should be. Other than that, a good read.

Brilliant story, worse Scottish accent ever!!

I love the Galaxy Edge Universe, I was looking forward to this one. The one thing that grated was her bad, awful attempt at Alec Owen's Scottish accent, it sounded Irish, East European and some other previously unheard of accent.
please Narrators, if you can't do a passable accent, Please don't do one at all!!

We’ll produced, fun stuff.

Military themed fiction filed under the category of science fiction, but could’ve taken place in Iraq or Afghanistan. War is hell.

3rd book read in this Galaxy’s Edge series, not as well crafted as the others. Formulaic, middle of the road, if competently written, well narrated and fun to listen to.

Not sure that I’d spend a credit on it, but it was appreciated addition to my library from the recently activated non-charge category Audible has made available to members.

Awful Naration

About to stick a sharp object into my eardrum to make it stop.

I lasted less than 5mins before moving to next book....but will not start it if it is the same narrator.
