Summary
A secret desire
By day, Finn builds houses on the coastline of Maine. After hours, Finn dreams of the hot older guy who walks his chocolate lab on Goose Rocks Beach. The man of his dreams ticks all his boxes. Salt and pepper hair. Strong jawline. Blue eyes.
His dream man is perfect fantasy material. As for actually speaking to him?
As if. Their paths won’t ever cross, and the guy is probably straight.
A new chapter
Recently-divorced Joel is finally living as a gay man, but he’s not sure he’s ready to jump into a relationship. That doesn’t stop him from noticing his new contractor’s muscular build, hewn from hard, physical work, or his storm-colored eyes. Or the way he wears his tool belt slung low on his hips. The icing on the cake? There’s more to Finn than good looks. Maybe he’s the perfect guy to share long walks on the beach and warm nights in front of a fire.
But it’s been 20 years since Joel was with a man. While he’s not forgotten how to flirt, he’s nervous about making a move.
Especially with Finn.

Great Romance, Wonderful Performance by J. Solo!
Even better the second time around! I loved this story, and listening to it performed by the marvelous John Solo is such a treat. Mr. Solo doesn't miss a chance to take advantage of KC Wells' fantastic sense of humor, and Finn's Fantasy is truly laugh-out-loud funny. (Plus, as a bonus, the first chapter of Ben's Boss is included at the end of the audiobook.)
K.C. Wells kicks off her Maine Men series with Finn’s Fantasy. Following a group of high school friends, the buddies appear in each other’s novels, and I’m looking forward to getting each of their stories.
I love a May/December romance, and Joel and Finn are exquisite! Joel is recently divorced, and K.C. Wells has devised a wonderful backstory for him. Parting amicably from his ex-wife, both she and their children play a role in the story. It’s lovely to see him dipping his toe into the welcoming bisexual waters of the 2020’s.
Finn is adorable. Plus he’s so uninhibited in the bedroom, it draws the best reactions from Joel and the two of them are smoking hot! We all know K.C. Wells writes gorgeous erotica, and this is some of her best.
The story is filled with supportive friends and family, stunningly sensual sex scenes, and all the best kinds of feels. Bring on Maine Men #2!

as good as the audiobook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Great start to a new series
Finns fantasy is a light sexy book, minimum anx and just sexy enough that I didn’t turn red while listening in the car.
I loved the characters Joel and Finn, I won’t go into too much detail. But you get to know and understand both characters, you get to see there relationship evolve together and with others around them. Talking of
Side characters I love the dynamics of Joel’s family and Finns Friends. The real reactions and not the usual over dramatic stuff or the everything is fabulous ones.
As always John Solo has given a great performance. I think he is actually one of three whose female narration doesn’t sound like nails on chalk board.
I’ve tried not to give anything away because I really like this book and I want everyone else to find the hidden gem it is too.

A great start to a new series!
I’m a huge fan of KC Wells writing and John Solo’s audio performances. The two of them have collaborated on several books and I have loved them all. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning listening to Finn’s Fantasy because I just couldn’t consider going to sleep without finishing it. Thank goodness I no longer have to get up early to go to work. 😊
I loved Joel and really felt for him that he lived for 20 years married to a woman when what he really wanted was a man. Coming out just wasn’t acceptable when he was young. I liked that he and his ex-wife are still friends. Unfortunately, one of his kids isn’t OK with the divorce and he doesn’t even know yet that his dad is gay.
Finn has been watching Joel walk his dog everyday and has become infatuated with him. He figures there is no way that Joel is gay but then Joel hires him to build a deck on his newly purchased house… That begins a great relationship.
I loved the group of Finn’s friends and can’t wait for more books in this series.
This story really got all of my emotions involved. John Solo’s voice was perfect for this book and he remains securely on my list of favorite audiobook performers.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

A Wonderfully Delightful Story & Narration🎧
K.C. Wells pens another wonderfully delightful romance novel, I have become a huge fan of her work and her writing style. She creates realistic characters and storylines that are easy to relate to and connect with. This story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it for the entire book. I adored the two lead characters, Joel and Finn, Joel is in his early 40’s after living a life that was expected of him he is starting to live the life he really wanted. His ex-wife is on board with it he just hopes he can get his children to understand, his eldest is still upset about the divorce. Joel moved to a cottage near Goose Rocks Beach for a fresh start, i is just him and his dog. Finn is a construction work and carpenter, he has a thing for older men and Joel catches his eye while walking with his dog, he is just the type of man he fantasizes about. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some laughs and lighthearted moments, heartfelt and emotional ones too, all leading to a wonderful romance. Finn’s circle of friends were awesome, I loved the camaraderie amongst them and how easily they let Joel in to their circle. K.C. Wells thank you for another amazing story, I loved every minute of it and am looking forward to what comes next in this awesome series.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, John Solo is an amazing narrator and a versatile voice artist. He brings these characters to life, giving each their own voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. HIs portrayal of each character is spot on, he grasps each character’s persona, plays the role with perfection sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Can a man find love at this age?
Recently divorced and living as a gay man for the first time, his ex-wife knows, but he hasn't had the nerve to tell his kids. They are already blaming him for the divorce.
Joel rents a house near the beach, a run down tiny place, but he's happy. Having bought himself a dog to keep him company and to make sure he gets out of the house daily, he starts walking along the beach each day,
Finn, a local builder, notices this fine man walking his dog daily, hot older guy, probably 20 years his senior, but he's the perfect man in Finn's eyes, just too perfect for Finn to stop him and chat.
Joel notices Finn, but it's been over 20 years since he chatted or flirted with a guy.
A well-written book about men, love and second chances in life: I speeded up the narrator to 1.35. but this is normal for me, and I find most people read too slow for me.

An average story, not unpleasant but nothing new
An average, sweet and not unpleasant mm romance . The readers hushed tones cast a grey shadow over the story, a more talented, spirited reader may have saved the book by giving it more life than the words alone present.
I eventually increased the speed to x120 to give it some life!

No Fantasy For Me
DNF, I'm sorry but I just couldn't finish this story. There just wasn't enough emphasis regarding the MC's, The first half of the story seemed to put Joel's family in the forefront and it took away from me being able to connect with the two main characters, which the story should have been focused on. I wouldn't have minded if some family stuff was sprinkled here and there but it was too much for me. When it did finally start to be more about the MC's (which was past the halfway point) it was too late for me, I lost interest. I have enjoyed Miss Wells' stories in the past but this one missed the mark in my personal opinion.
The narrator John Solo as always did an amazing job, the story itself was the problem for me.

A wonderful feel-good read, full of the warm and
I was gifted the audio file direct from the author.
John Solo narrates.
For the most part, I did enjoy the narration. Solo is a firm favourite of mine, but something about this narration didn’t quite work for me. I can’t pinpoint what, and ya’ll know how much that frustrates me!
The voices are clear, and distinctive, so it’s not that. Solo has a deep “reading” voice, and I had no problems with dipping or loss of sound.
He gets over all the emotions of Finn and Joel well enough, and you really feel them, you know.
It’s a GOOD narration, but for me, not a great one. I can’t say any more than that! Will I continue to listen to this series? Probably not. I will READ it though.
3 stars for the narration
Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Finn watches the man walking his dog on the beach while he works. The older man gives him plenty to dream about. Finn never expected that Joel was having a similar reaction to him. But Joel is only recently living out as a gay man, and hasn’t been with a man in 20 years. Can they make it work?
This book is a delight, it really is. I loved Finn, and Joel and them together. I loved the slow and steady approach they have, taking time to see how things go. Letting Joel set the pace, since it’s been so long for him.
While a sexy read, I didn’t think it very explicit, but I liked that. It’s one of the tamer books by Wells, and I really enjoyed reading it.
I loved the way Joel’s wife was with him. That kind of relationship is hard won, and both of them want to keep each other in their lives, and the love they have for each other jumps off the page. It could have been so different, indeed IS different for so many, but Joel’s wife is a treasure, she really is.
It’s a easy read with very little angst. Only real angst comes when Joel’s 18 year old son catches them in a compromising position, and Joel hadn’t told his kids yet. While that scene could have gone very badly, how Joel deals with it show how much he loves his son. Said son could ALSO have reacted VERY VERY badly, but reading what Joel wrote about himself helps him to understand why his dad is only now coming out.
This is the first in the Maine Men series, and we meet all the guys here. They are a great bunch and I look forward to reading all the other stories as they come along. Some hints here, but not sure I’ve put the clues together correctly. Ben is next, we know that much.
A wonderful feel-good read, full of the warm and fuzzies.
4 great stars

OK
I didnt like the narrator, personally I thought he made the book sound really boring. There wasn't much of a story to it but there was a lot of sex if that's what your interested in
