Summary
After the screen of a run-down drive-in movie theater collapses and kills four people, the daughter of one of the victims asks private investigator Cal Weaver to look into a recent break-in at her father's house. Cal discovers a hidden basement room where it's clear that salacious activities have taken place - as well as evidence of missing DVDs. But his investigation soon becomes more complicated when he realises the DVDs may contain something even more shocking.
Meanwhile, Detective Barry Duckworth is still trying to solve two murders - one of which is three years old - he believes are connected, since each featured a similar distinctive wound.
As the lies begin to unravel, Cal is headed straight into the heart of a dark secret as his search uncovers more startling truths about Promise Falls. And when yet another murder happens, Cal and Barry are both driven to pursue their investigations, no matter where they lead. Evil deeds long thought buried are about to haunt the residents of this town - as the sins of the past and present collide with terrifying results.

An incredible second act!
Even when you think you have put the pieces together, Barclay changes the puzzle. A thrilling and tense story that has you trying to tie the different threads together but always waiting for the next thud. I can't wait to listen to the next instalment!

Holding my interest
Enjoying this series, just finished the 2nd book which is technically the third as the first is Book 0, though not set in Promise Falls it is linked. Currently downloading the 3rd book. Glad to hear the answers are in this book as I think a further book would just drag it out too much.

???????????
This book just ended!!! Did I miss something? Or is there a follow up book? I was enjoying it up till then although the pauses in the narration was overly long, I kept thinking it had turned itself off.

Riveting stuff!
With Far From True, the town of Promise Falls is definitely getting weirder in this, the second novel in the Promise Falls series. Barclay does an excellent job of picking up a lot of the loose threads left dangling after Book 1 - Broken Promises (I would strongly recommend that new visitors to Promise Falls start right at the beginning with Book 1). Can't wait to see how this all winds up in the final instalment. Very highly recommended.

Second book in a trilogy, spoiled alert, there's n
....no ending! I'm enjoying them though. You need to read one immediately after the other to keep track of the stories. I like Linwood Barclay books, and even though I know this is a trilogy, I still expected a few of the loose ends to be tidied up a bit more. It was a little strange having the second book on Audible as I'd read a hard copy of the first book so I'd got my own voices for the characters. One of the narrators voices grated on me but it didn't distract too much from the story. Right I'm off to start the hard copy of The Twenty Three...

Great if you have read the first book
I liked it but felt that the way the book was laid out, it felt like a book complied from a serialisation from a magazine. There were a lot of description about events that we, the reader, were previously aware of in the book. As in book one it ends without a proper conclusion, if anything it is there to set up the third book. The performances as always are great. Anyway, what's do I know?

Be warned the story ends abruptly
Any additional comments?
You need to listen to the first in the series. We did this and the story merged. The narration was good and there were many twists to the story. Suddenly it ends with obviously a sequel in mind. This is a pity and feel each book should be complete.
