About this listen

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain, and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod", a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

Performed by James Konicek, Danny Gavigan, Lily Beacon, Richard Rohan, David Coyne, Thomas Penny, Jason Stiles, Thomas Simpson, Tony Nam, Elizabeth Jernigan, Kate Foster, Tim Getman, Sherri Simpson, Mary McGowan, Casie Platt, Jonathan Watkins, Michael Glenn, Eric Messner, Colleen Delany, Sunny Lasskey, Mort Shelby, Terence Aselford, Nanette Savard, Scott McCormick, Andy Clemence, James Lewis, Steven Carpenter, Timothy Lynch.

The voice acting was great.

A lot of time I had trouble understanding the narrator because of the ambient sound. I understand the battle noises or the spells but they were too loud.

Very enjoyable

This works so well because of the wonderful narration. Of course, it is a brilliant story as well. I don't think anyone would be disappointed spending a credit each on these three .... technically four because of the 1.5 prequel, and yes don't get that muddled like I did and think this slots in after the part 1😆
Thank you Brandon for another enjoyable listen/read

Enjoyable production of the Elantris story

I enjoyed this version of the Elantris audiobook. I have the regular one also. Occasionally the background effects drowned out the main actors, but not often enough to loose a star.

Good

I mostly enjoyed the story but wish I had bought the kindle or paperback version. I liked the world building and the characters in Elantris. The princess, I can't remember her name was unbelievably irritating and the person narrating her made it even worse, she sounded so shrill. Parts of the story were old fashioned in how women were portrayed and that spoiled it. The production was the worst part, I missed some of it due to loud background noise so would not recommend this version
