Summary

This is the original classic story of Bram Stoker's undead monster. It has influenced Western portrayals (including Buffy and Angel) of vampires and vampirism for nearly a century. Even after all this time, Bram Stoker's Dracula remains the undisputed masterpiece of horror writing.

Editor reviews

Simplicity is the hallmark of this eerie, traditional recording of Dracula featuring a full vocal cast. Told through a series of diary entries and letters, Bram Stoker's time-honored tale of a terrifying, powerful vampire sees an artful reading, with particular attention paid to the sinister, Transylvanian tones of the monster himself, while solicitor Jonathan Harker's seriousness is the perfect foil to the vampire's legendary menace. Though the audio production is pared-down, this allows the voice performances to shine, lending a solitary, ominous atmosphere to a classic tale of horror.

Critic reviews

"This recording features particularly chilling vocal characterizations of the vampire and Jonathan Harker, which add greatly to the dramatic horror of the story. A highly popular recording." ( Booklist)

Well voiced, but some acoustic problems

The cast retell the story with excellent expression and great voices for the different characters, including a brilliant one for the Count himself!!
But there is some off-putting background noise at times, particularly at the beginning, and sometimes the acoustics are poor, as if the actor is in a huge empty room.
However these little annoyances are just at the start of the recording, and overall it is a good reading.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
