About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

If you have ADHD - or love somebody who does - DIRTY LAUNDRY will change your life, and your relationships.

Do you feel crippling shame because you struggle with cleaning, personal hygiene, or time-keeping? Do you always feel misunderstood by the people close to you and find that they get frustrated by your behaviour?

DIRTY LAUNDRY is an unfiltered look into the chaos of real life with ADHD. It will transform your self-hatred into self-acceptance, with simple tips that actually work for your brain. It will also help to educate partners, parents and friends, to help them move from frustration to patience, understanding - and love.

Learn how to:

  • Stop believing you are fundamentally broken
  • Stop judging yourself by the standards of a neurotypical world
  • Communicate your struggles to those who love you
  • Support someone with ADHD in ways that work for them
  • Be compassionate rather than judgemental
  • ...and much more.

From the husband-and-wife team behind social media phenomenon @ADHD_Love, whose viral videos have been viewed more than 200 million times, comes a fearless, often outrageously funny, account of life, learning, and growing with ADHD. They share the strategies they have used to reduce shame, improve communication, and find happiness in their neurodivergent household.

Filled with heartbreak and humour in equal measure, DIRTY LAUNDRY is an invaluable resource both for neurodivergents and the people who love them.

Excellent insight

I didn’t know much about ADHD and wanted to learn more. Really interesting and helpful explanations from both side of a relationship where one person has ADHD and the other does not.

Heartfelt, honest - proof were not alone!

I am moved by this book, the reading is also beautiful. What's so heartwarming is the honesty and integrity behind what's being said. I've found myself in a similar Rox in so many relatable ways that it shocked me. Of course ADHD has symptoms specific to each person, but the overall premise of each chapter is relative in some ways. It's been said on some comments that it's a waste of money, you won't learn anything, we don't all suffer in the same ways - but the book isn't nessacarily about that, it's about someone like us 1: sharing these truths, and making all of us neurodivergent folks smile knowing we're not alone, finally we've found someone speaking our own language with pride and contentment, not shame and guilt and 2: this person is being seen, understood, respected and loved for being them!
For a guilt ridden ADHD person who's silently suffered all of their life, this book is gold! Share it with your loved ones - know who you are, work with who you are, and know you're not alone!

Engaging, enlightening, authentic and funny.

A well-structured guide to making the most of an ADHD life and how to support loved ones. Rox and Rich go through each of the common challenges with authentic stories from their own lives, taking turns to explain what it's like, strategies you can employ as someone with ADHD and those you can use to support others.

Readers may well feel moved by knowing they are not alone and encouraged to know there are ways to make life easier and richer. I am probably not the only one with "Aha!" moments as I developed my understanding.

Personally, this has helped me identify the likelihood of ADHD in my close relationship; to be far more understanding, accepting, compassionate and patient; to know the reasons behind behaviours (and not take things personally); and to work together with the traits not fight against them. For someone with ADHD, I imagine great relief of knowing these are not character flaws, incompetence or whatever negative narrative they may have had. I'm going to be sharing it widely with my neurodivergent friends and family.

Many thanks to Rox and Rich

Would give it 10 stars if I could

Less than 20 minutes into this, and I had already been in tears twice.
I’m not a crier.

If you, your partner, friend, family, or anyone you know has ADHD and/ or autism this really puts those daily difficulties and stresses you both have into perspective and gives some really useful – ACTUALLY USEFUL & USABLE - coping mechanisms to put in place (not the ones where you know all the knowing, but can’t seem to convert it to doing.)

Seriously, listen to this and follow them on Facebook/ Instagram/ etc. They are incredible!!

sensational

This audio book made me realise that I'm not alone in this world. I am undiagnosed with ADHD but all the characteristics are there, I'm taking supplements to help. I felt a deeper connection with the audio book when the authors spoke their own parts and it made it easier to follow than if I had read the book. Thank you both for sharing your experiences from different POVs. looking forward to possible future audio books from you both

Funny & motivating

Hearing a neurotypical person understand what it’s like to be neurodivergent is really comforting.
