Very good

I enjoyed this its not the best of the best in the series but not the worst. We got insight into how war is conducted and for once the main character had to follow orders and deal with people more powerful than himself who he is unable to kill or defeat.

I prefer the stories where there is exploration, unusual loot and humour but this book had some very good ideas in it and added balance as war uses up the resources, wealth and people gathered so far.

The narrator did a great job as usual.

If you have listened to the series so far you should like this I look forward to the next book and its a bonus that books in this series are released often compared to other series.

No end in sight

Although I like the story it seems to be draging out small plotpoints forever with the main goals 2-3 books ahead.

Progress

An excellent book, where we get a more rapid development of the plot, characters and the worlbuilding. Can't wait for the next one.

One of the best

I don't understand what some people are complaining about. I only have 10 hrs left of this book and it has had very little cultivation prattle so far (for a DOF book). The book so far has expanded the world and has many different POV chapters beyond just Zac and Ogras.

We are getting further introduced to the political side of things like the starbeast alliance, tayns, undead empire, abyssal shore, kavriel province, 7 heavens and the storylines of many different characters cultivated in earlier books are coming together; a gathering of fate if you will.

I love the war mechanic too. Really interesting. The ladder and Zecia fighting an uphill war against invaders takes me back to the first few books of the series, which were absolute bangers.

In my view, this is so far one of the best books yet in the series.

5/5 stars.

I'm Done.

I forced myself to the end. The series has lost its way imo. I won't be listening to anymore unfortunately 😕

I wish I had never started reading this series....

The first couple of books in this series slowly pull you in with player levelling and the smashing of bad guys with a good portion of character development thrown in for good measure. The progression of the characters and their awesome defence of New planet earth and how Zacks slow development into an absolute monster of a Mortal character peaks just before his Mum turns up and changes the dynamic of the story.

Sadly, the author now spends half of the books disappearing up his own bumhole discussing truths, Dao, mudras energy inspirations and everything else that is not smashing or character interaction. This makes for boring listening and honestly if I wasn't a completionist I would have stopped reading a few books ago. 4hrs left of the book is when he begins to change gear into smashing mode and my appetite is only mildly sated.

please please please dude, next book less Dao and truths chat more smashing, your fight description is why stuck with you even though your first book was bloody slow

Too many fillers and waffling

The story keeps being interesting but the amount of story progress comes closer and colser to a halt with each subsequent book. The last few books predominantly contained in-depth explorations of the MCs epiphanies, character descriptions, and general waffeling to fill space. I think the actual relevant content of this book could be compressed to three hours rather than in 20+. I think it’s time for the author to again place more focus on story progression rather than describing every step or action anyone takes in meticulous detail. Reading other feedback, I am by no means the only one who feels that way.
