Summary

Four a.m. on a wet stretch of the A1 and a driver skids out of control. On the other side of town a house goes up in flames, turning its two inhabitants into charred corpses. It's seemingly unconnected with the traffic accident, and Kate sets about investigating both incidences separately. But it soon becomes apparent that all is not what it seems, and Kate and her colleagues are always one step behind a ruthless killer who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Story, characters and pace all 5*
I really enjoy the balance of the story and the lives of the main characters weaving together. The pace pace of the story is just right, keeps your interest.

Meh
I feel like I had a lot of questions listening to this and don’t quite get the point of one of the story lines. The narration is confusing as there isn’t a pause between chapters or sections, she just keeps reading, so ended up rewinding a lot as I was confused to then realise it was because there was no pause! I quite like these books but yeah, this one wasn’t the best.

excellent book but narration poor.
excellent story lines and gripping to the end. The narration however sounded like it was being read by a high school student and at times lacked the intensity required to conjure up the mindset.

Ridiculous plot
I have enjoyed the previous books in the series but this was very poor. Alongside a very implausible plot, to date it as set in June 2020 without acknowledging the national lockdown was a big error.

AWFUL NARRATION
Really struggling with this book.. the narrator drones on & on & on . . . will persevere a little longer, but may have to return it before I fall asleep with boredom !
