About this listen
In the eighth novel in the Dales Detective series, Date with Evil, Samson and Delilah are about to discover that all of their new cases may be connected to a network of evil that seems to be surrounding Bruncliffe. Will they solve them all before the danger comes directly to their door?
'A Yorkshire Agatha Raisin' – Dalesman
Evil is stalking the streets of Bruncliffe . . .
From stolen washing to inheritance investigations, Bruncliffe’s Dales Detective Agency is being inundated with cases.
But with Samson O’Brien still in London helping the Met Police clear his name, and the newly appointed member of the investigations team, Ida Capstick, distracted by her brother George’s insistence that their farm is haunted, Delilah Metcalfe is struggling to meet the mounting demands for the agency’s services.
So when the mother of a local estate agent arrives at the offices insisting her son is missing, Delilah is relieved to have Samson return to help.
Little do the detective duo know that several of their cases are about to collide when identifying the whereabouts of the missing man becomes something far more sinister.
Something that will finally expose the network of evil which has been infiltrating the Dales town over the past decade, and in doing so place Delilah in the utmost danger.
Following on from Date with Betrayal this new novel delights with its combination of beguiling charm and witty ingenuity.

Great series
Really enjoyed this series. The characters are wonderfully written and the plot which runs through the series has you gripped. Will miss the characters, they have become old friends. Narration throughout the series has been fabulous and consistent.

Think this was the best so far
Having listened to all the previous outings of the Dales Detective Agency I think this might have been the best so far. A series of seemingly unconnected mysteries keep our intrepid duo busy, but of course as with what has gone before nothing is quite as it seems. Who are the mysterious twosome and what are they running from? Who was stealing Seth’s Hobnobs, and who was the mysterious washing stealer? Where is Stuart Lister? What is really going on at Taylor’s Estate Agents? Of course we mustn’t forget the dastardly Rick Proctor, will he finally get his comeuppance?
As usual the various townsfolk play their part, George Capstick has his own starring role, Ida and Nina from Rice and Spice also step into the breach to help the detectives. And of course who could forget Tollpuddle who as always is the hero of the hour!
Many loose ends are tied up in this visit to the Dales, but there is clearly still more to tell.
Narration was great and overall a great fun listen. Can’t wait for the next. I’ll be sorry when I’ve finished this series.

Great detective story
I’ve enjoyed all the stories so far in this series but I think this is my favourite as it tied a lot of previous parts together. I love Samson & Delilah’s blossoming relationship too. I can’t wait for the next one.

Dales Detective Book Series. Just wonderful.
Such wonderful characters. A compelling storyline. This book has tied up some loose ends, but I can sense that more is to come? Oh I hope so. Beautifully narrated too. I highly recommend.

Great storytelling
I love this series and was really looking forward to the latest instalment. A lot of the previous‘ books plot lines come together in this one, with Bruncliffe‘s motley crew of characters driving the DDA‘s latest cases to a suspenseful conclusion.
