About this listen
A sparkling Christmas listen from the Sunday Times best seller - perfect to snuggle up with this winter!
Hannah and Nico are meant to be together.
But fate is keeping them apart.
As soon as Hannah bumps into her brother Rob’s best friend, Nico, in Stockholm, the two rekindle a fast friendship. But Hannah has a boyfriend - and Nico has two children to look after.
When Hannah loses her beloved shop in Stockholm, though, she is forced to move back to the little village of Middledip - only to find Nico has just moved in, too. Under the same snowy sky, can the childhood friends make a romance work - or are there too many obstacles standing in their way?
A heartwarming story of love, friendship and Christmas magic, perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley and Jill Mansell.

Irritating narrator
And audiobook should be about the story not the skill of the actor with accents. This narrator made such a sure heavy meal out of every Swedish word it totally ruined the flow of the story

Really enjoyable story
Lovely story, a bit different to the usual format, much honesty about family life, interesting elements about Sweden too.
However those children’s squeaky voice’s nearly made me switch it off, glad I persevered though!

A Perfect Way to Escape
If you only fall in love with one fictional character this Christmas then it has to be Nico in this excellent Christmas story by Sue Moorcroft. The tale is utterly believable and all too easy to lose yourself in. The characters are well drawn from the youngest to the oldest. This really is a book worth reading.
It is very well narrated by Julia Winwood.

A lovely.....
storyline with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Audio editing required on this excellent story!
The story is easy and pleasant. But the narrator speaks irritatingly slow, getting even slower when pronouncing Swedish words. Almost as if the characters were drugged or half asleep. I ended up turning the audio speed to 1.2x normal. This made the listening much better, although the girls' voices tended to sound rather shrill.
All in all a good story, spoiled by the narrating.

An interesting story, albeit a bit dragged out at times. Julia Winwood made it a very easy listen.

Nice book but that’s it
Despite other reviews I liked the narrator APART from the too slow pronunciation of Swedish locations & the really annoying children voices (almost quit due to the screeching). Also only gave 3stars for the story as both main characters were not likeable. Spoiler alert…bulimic indecisive bloke (but apparently gorgeous looking hockey player) and overly sensitive a bit simple woman (confident one minute and next almost ready to jump from the cliff) were not likeable and not likely in my opinion. Maybe a harsh review but that’s how I feel after just finishing it.

I had to Stick with it!
I felt like I had to wait to the end for it to be about Christmas. I did struggle with the story and I definitely would NOT call it a Christmas book.
There was divorce, single Dad, eating disorder, neglect of a 2 year old, a social worker, prescription drugs & alcohol addiction, manipulation and this was on Nico's side of the story.
Then Hannah had her own set of stuff to deal with like her boyfriend chucking her out of his home on the pretence he was a swinger but infact he was having an affair with Hannah's shop assistant Julio, then ripping her off with money & conning her out of her own gift shop ~ which was in Stockholm but I still don't know why it was there considering her family live in England.
Hannah returns to her family in the UK. Nick and his daughter also live in England SO I still didn't get why they constantly nipped to Stockholm like they were nipping into town!
This book would be good in a classroom of GCSE English Students! The narrator was good although you really have to turn up the narration speed alot otherwise it is slow.
As I struggled with this book and desperately wanted something light hearted like it said on the synopsis I wouldn't recommend it but if you want something opposite then this book is for you. Happy Christmas 🎄✨
