Summary

'Ross Greenwood doesn’t write clichés. What he has written here is a fast-paced, action-filled puzzle with believable characters that's spiced with a lot of humour' Kath Middleton

How far would you go to protect your friends?

Will, Carl, Aiden and Darren are inseparable from the day they meet at school. The combination of Will’s street smarts, Carl’s brains, Aiden’s loyalty and Darren’s fearlessness mean they are a force to be reckoned with, and together they feel ready to take on the world.

But solidarity can’t insure against tragedy, and when life tests the boys to their limits, slowly the four choose different paths as they take the step into adulthood.

Darren has always been the one to take chances, with a dangerous side that's a blessing and a curse. As the years pass by, Darren’s schemes and mistakes start to weigh heavily on his friends. One fateful day, Will finally has to decide if friendship and loyalty are worth risking everything for.

Life doesn’t always give you a second chance to make the right choice…

A thrilling listen from bestselling author Ross Greenwood, perfect for fans of Mark Billingham, Ian Rankin and Peter James.

Best book yet

Love the sense of humour and the way the writer joins the story and characters together from previous books.

Disappointing

David Thorpe the only thing good here. Kept waiting for a clever twist but ended without one.

northwest listener

A well written which follows the life of a man from boy to middle age and how he got to where he did. a very human story and very captivating. the characters are so real and I could really see how very very easy it would be to follow that path without really realising it. Shows how little insignificant things can soon add up to be something significant. Couldn't help thinking some actions were foolish.

Have so enjoyed this book, and the ones leading up to it.
Hope there’s going to be another.

Disappointing

I usually enjoy Ross Greenwood stories but this one I found I did not like or empathise with any of the characters so got bored and really did not care what happened to them, so stopped listening long before the end. Very disappointing.

Excellent as always

Great characters with great sense of humour running through the story. I did find the ending a bit weird though.

Good story

Good story sometimes hard to follow, goes from childhood to adult and actions a group of friends and reprisals

Super performance

To be honest, at one moment I lost patience with the main charcter to be so naive. Since the end of the story was presented already at the very beginning, it felt pointless to continue the story when the reasons for the ending were obvious. Somehow got past this moment since David Thorpe’s voice is simply brilliant and such a pleasure to listen to. But - the ending was not the end until the very last chapter of the story. Do not try to skip the middle chapters - you will not understand the essence of the last chapter if you had not read (listened) to the whole story. I find Ross Greenwood’s storyline has similarities with Jo Nesbo’s stories. At the end I can say that I enjoyed it.
