About this listen
A terrifying enigma – with the power to destroy…
Twenty years ago, Kate Maddox was a volunteer at a research centre where scientists hunted for a cure for the common cold virus. That summer, Kate fell in love with a handsome young doctor, Stephen, but her stay ended in his tragic death and Kate fled to a new life in the US.
Now Kate is back in England and on the run with her young son, this time from her vile husband. But a chance encounter sets her on a terrifying path of discovery. What really happened at the Cold Research Unit two decades ago?
Pursued by both her estranged husband and a psychotic killer who is obsessed with his prey, Kate must fight to solve the puzzle of the past – uncovering a sickening betrayal and a truth more horrifying than she could ever have imagined…

“An exhilarating ride with plenty to satisfy even the most demanding conspiracy theorists – in a similar vein to Michael Crichton and Dan Brown, and then some! I found myself rushing through the last few chapters as the pace increased and every moment was full of tension. Brilliant stuff.”
-Elizabeth Haynes, bestselling author of Into the Darkest Corner
“A fast-paced conspiracy thriller that stays suspenseful and unsettling to the very last page.”
-Emlyn Rees, bestselling author of Hunted
“A high octane, action-packed thriller…There is so much action and intrigue in this book and every scene is driven by a powerful emotion, such as lust, love or savage hatred.”
-First Choice
“A fast-paced rollercoaster thriller – MEGA Book of the Month!”

Fantastic story
I loved this, although Antonia's narration can be a little grating when it comes to whining children and american accents, but otherwise, it's a great listen, I first listened to this about three years ago and I just revisited it, during the covid 19 days, and frankly I find it hard to believe that anybody would find this story 'unbelievable' when we all know what America was up to back in the fifties and sixties (we did not know at the time of course but our government might well have known). And you only have to consider all the conspiracy theories surrounding covid 19 to appreciate just how many people may like this book.
Conspiracy theorists will love this book, I am not a conspiracy theorist but I loved it too, it's a great story albeit one with a whiny, cheating, American husband, also Kate can be annoyingly dumb at times but who isn't if we're honest? Except me, I'm always brilliant (except when I'm not) ...

Started well, but became very unrealistic!
What did you like best about Catch Your Death? What did you like least?
This is an unusual tale that really engaged me until the later chapters. I won't give any spoilers. Suffice to say that when things really hotted-up, it repeatedly got silly. At moments of legitimate panic, the main protagonist stopped crying and worrying long enough to launch into a detailed chat! Also, there were sloppy faults in the Police procedures, one glaringly huge.

Not their best.
I've listened to a few of this pair's books. This one was disappointing in comparison. Rather far-fetched story.
Antonia Beamish is a good narrator.

thoroughly enjoyed this book. the performance of the narrator was good too. In view of the last couple of years it makes chilling listening though.
