Summary

In the cold light of dawn, a dead body is found in the smouldering remains of a burnt-out Cotswold manor.

Key House has stood empty for years, but its owner, Gervase Crown, was seen nearby just before the blaze. Is he responsible, or was he the intended target?

As Campbell and Carter begin their investigation it becomes clear that Gervase wasn't particularly popular and his return reawakens old memories, not all of them good.

A ‘proper’ story

What a wonderful story full of interesting characters. And as for the narration, Judith Boyd, is just wonderful. Her beautiful voice carries the narrative and characters to a satisfying conclusion. Absolutely lovely piece of entertainment.

A comfy murder mystery

Judith Boyd has a beautiful well-modulated voice and is an ideal narrator of Ann Grainger's enjoyable books.

I did not finish it.

The story goes slow, there are too many characters badly introduced. The story did not grasp my interest. I lost patience and stopped listening after a few hours.
