About this listen
If you could be the first to lay eyes upon a planet orbiting a distant star, would you go?
If it meant that when you returned home - if you returned home - everyone you knew would have been dead for centuries, would you still go?
The members of the Polaris Project knew what they were giving up when they volunteered to fly to the star named Angel-21, but the allure of being the first explorers to leave the Solar System far outweighed the risks. As it turned out, the most dangerous thing they faced wasn't the mission...it was the homecoming. Eight hundred years have passed, and Earth is nothing like they thought it would be.
As Commander Markus Brentwood scrambles to uncover the mystery of what's happened to Earth in their absence, he also must contend with an increasingly dysfunctional crew and a damaged ship that's flying on borrowed time. What should have been a joyous return home after a long, hard mission has turned into a race to see which nightmare would kill them first.

Just lacking more substance.
Dont let my heading put you off. However, nothing has changed in this genre over the years. Take a group, add in a few "bad egg's" and it really doesn't matter what background you put them in. The story is all the same! Who's going to survive, or not. As a quick holiday filler with nothing of any difficulty in following, its a good yarn. Otherwise, nothing new.

Great idea well executed
A great idea well executed - just one quibble - has he left the outcome of the mission to find an exoplanet a mystery because he will be writing a prequel? If so what a novel idea - write the story backwards

Unique riveting story
The best and definitely worst of humanity in one story. Joshua Dalzelle is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.
Narration superb, Paul Heitsch is a master.

Another good Sci-fi adventure in a different way
Decided to listen to this novel after being g completely addicted to the Black Fleet series and the Expansion Wars series books. Mainly because it is included in Audible, but also that Joshua Dalzelle is an outstanding author. Although the first couple of chapters were not what I have grown accustomed to, I found myself becoming engrossed again in a story that although the same genre, is completely different. I really enjoy the mental struggles the characters have to deal with, while they try to survive. Unfortunately although good the narrator is not as good as that in the 6 books I have already listened to, but this is a minor thing

Wonderfully crafted tale.
Fabulous. It’s that simple. I almost disregarded this. You shouldn’t. Only tiny gripe is the Brit sounds like an Australian at times.

Great Novel from Dalzelle
I love the sci-fi series Dalzelle writes, Warship series and the epic Omega Force saga. Great plot and Paul Heitsch does a great job as with everything. Listen, you won't regret.
