Summary
When Celia Krügerner visits her Uncle Dieter's castle in Switzerland for his annual summer ball, she's excited to learn that Erin, who she shared an unforgettable dance with the year before, will once again be attending. Although their exchange was brief, Celia's been unable to stop thinking about the dark and mysterious woman, and she's determined to make a lasting impression on her this time.
Erin Nour, superyacht designer and avid traveler, has sailed from Bermuda to attend her good friend Dieter's ball and has donated a vacation on The Barracuda—her pride and joy—to the charity auction held during the event. The long journey was worth it, as she's not only looking forward to celebrating his recovery from recent ill health but also to seeing his favorite niece, Celia again.
When Dieter places the winning bid, he invites Erin, Celia and his love interest Andy to join him on the yacht. Erin soon finds out that this will be his last voyage and honoring his wishes, she promises to keep the severity of his illness to herself. They embark on a life-altering journey together but with secrets between them, can love prevail?

A sumptuous journey.
In Blue the listener takes an emotional and quite literal journey with Celia, Erin and a host of secondary characters as they navigate life’s twists and turns. It’s a low angst, age gap, rich girl/rich girl romance that transports the listener to far off places, submerging you in different cultures and landscapes.
The prose is gorgeous - at times lingering and evocative then fast-paced when the moment demands. Gold creates some very likable and memorable characters, who are basically really genuine and good people without ever being dull. She makes a familiar story exciting without resorting to cliched twists or obvious plot devices. Oh and there’s some hot sex thrown in for good measure!
This is my first time listening to narration by TJ Richards. As with many other audiobook narrators it takes a couple of chapters for her to settle in, but once she hits her stride she nails it. I particularly liked her portrayal of Erin. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from Richards.
If you are looking for an audiobook to whisk you away, I highly recommend you dive into Blue.

𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹.
This is a solid story by Lise Gold. I was prepared to cry my heart out but instead of a heartwrenching story, this turned out to be a poignant and beautiful one.
Celia's Uncle Dieter has terminal cancer and his final wish is to spend the remaining months travelling the world with the people closest to him. He gets his chance when he successfully bids for a vacation on a superyacht at a charity auction and invites Celia, his best friend Erin and his lover Andy to join him on his journey to Bermuda. As only Erin is aware of his illness from the start, the mood doesn't start to dip until later. The four have a lot of fun experiencing different cultures and enjoying the sights and the sounds and because Gold is such a good writer, I had a lot of fun listening too. When the characters eventually find out the truth, death as a theme is looked at from different angles - the reactions, questions, grief, acceptance - and it becomes all too real. But because it was dealt with so well, my heart didn't shatter to pieces when the time came.
I learnt a lot about the characters because they really do talk to one another on the trip and the relationships develop. Not just the romantic one between Celia and Erin, but also their friendship with Andy and Dieter. I love the romance between Celia and Erin. Definitely an insta-lust. It has a fairytale beginning - they shared one dance at a ball and left an impression on each other but didn't keep in contact until a year later at another ball when things start getting hot and heavy. And then the vacation takes place immediately after. Their romance is extremely passionate and there is plenty of erotic sex and it's oh, so steamy.
This is my first time with the narrator and I must say that TJ Richards did an incredible job conveying all the emotions. I particularly love the way Erin sounds.

Started off well but......
Blue started off well but dropped off the longer it went on. The characters were okay as was the narration, but nothing special. I purchased this on the strength of the reviews and the premise of the story but both let me down a bit.
