About this listen
In a nursing home on the outskirts of Cork, an elderly nun lies dead. She has been suffocated. It looks like a mercy killing - until another sister from the same convent is found viciously murdered, floating in the Glashaboy river.
Why would anyone want to kill them? As she investigates, DS Katie Maguire discovers a 50-year-old secret that just might lead her to the killer...if the killer doesn't find her first.

Good story pity about the reader
As the book is set in Ireland with a lot of Irish names and place names it might have been an idea to get an Irish reader or some one to advise on prounciations. The attempts at Irish accents was dire. Perhaps this may make no difference to non Irish listeners. Story is good albeit a little Gorey in places

Good storytelling but very bloody indeed!
This is the first Katie MacGuire book I’ve either read or heard. The narrator is excellent, good Irish accent, differentiation of characters well done and clear diction. The writing is also great - fast-paced, energetic, highly individual characters and with a storyline which grabs the attention from the word go.
However the story did eventually decline into the melodramatic. With that many deaths (not even counting all the poor infants) Cork would soon have a population problem and a negative one at that. The descriptions of the various tortures inflicted on some of the characters made me fast-forward on more than one occasion.
Overall a good read but I’m not so sure that I can cope with that amount of death and inventive destruction in the future.

Superb book.
Excellent story, well written and suspense by the bucket full. Very difficult to switch off I just had to know what happened next! But didn't see the final three chapters coming, a master of suspense. This is the third Graham Masterton book I have read and can't wait for the next one.
Sadly if any of the other books are narrated by Noreen Leighton I will buy the book to read myself as I found her narration off putting with a sharp intake off breath at the beginning of every sentence.

Another brilliant listen
OMG Graham Masterton keeps on giving. I love The Katie McGuire books they are brilliant. Laugh out loud funny in some parts. Every story is different and you can't help
Loving Katie. I'm secretly routing for John to still be part of the books but it looks like Kyna might get her Girl at the end of this book!! Already bought Buried and with this book very abrupt open ending I'm hoping it's an immediate continuation. Can't wait to get started on it. Excellent narration I'm a bit concerned the next book has a different narrator, fingers crossed she pulls it off.

Loved this book!
It’s a dark tale and the blood spills everywhere so it’s not for the faint hearted but I loved it. Again Mr Masterton digs into the pit of revenge and this time it’s the nuns that cop it...Kate hasn’t got it easy either. Be aware the book contains graphic descriptions of animal abuse. Great book and great narrator.on to the next.

Cork has to be the crime capital of the world.
Clearly written as the basis of a long running TV series. Excellent narration of a rather average story.
