I have never heard an accent like it !!!

I loved the story, but had a real problem the way all the Scottish accents were portrayed. Poor casting/producing of the audio book, someone should have checked that the accents were true and authentic before completing this audio . Which is a real shame, as that was the one thing that let the book down.

Poor audio quality, and a bit…repetative narrator. Clare Lydon was my first trial at les. romance novels, but not my favorite.

It was ok, but not great.

I think we all knew from the title what was likely to happen and it did. It was formulaic and nothing particularly exciting happens. However, most annoying for me was the narrator’s movable accent. Was never quite sure where it was going next. Really put me off.

hooked on this book but slightly distracted by the 'Scottish' accent which sounded Irish but the book is really well written.

Such a poor choice of narrator (cannot do accents)

The narrator is clear with the main story line and English characters, but the Scottish accent is atrocious.
Distracts and breaks the immersion in the story.

Loved the story hated the Scottish accent

I’m sorry but the woman who read the story utterly murdered the Scottish accent . As someone who is from Scotland I can honestly say maybe get someone else to read those bits , apart from that great story love Clare Lydon books !

Easy listen, good story

The only part of this I struggled with was the terrible "Scottish" accent, it really did distract me. However I really enjoyed the storyline, pace and humour

Terrible Accents, Zero to Sixty Affair

The book itself had a decent premise and story, but the relationship development was almost non-existent. They meet, instant attraction… that’s basically that. Then suddenly they’re in love? Idk, I prefer a bit more of a slow burn and this book definitely isn’t that.

Feels a bit trite towards the end but very Rom-com-esque so, fair enough.

One thing I really couldn’t get past was the performance. The accents were TERRIBLE. If you can’t do a Scottish accent, just don’t do it. Or don’t read for it. It really took me out of the story every single time. Honestly, even the standard English accent was terrible - IKEA pronounced IKaya. Wtf?? Cannes pronounced Carne. Christ on a bike.
